FRONT OF HOUSE (FOH) MANAGER

SUMMARY:

Responsible for supervising and training servers, bussers, and hosts/hostesses, creating shift schedules, and ensuring that the front-of-house (FOH) runs smoothly. Works closely with the General Manager. Supervise the cleanliness and upkeep of the dining room, bar, and guest contact areas, including restrooms. Responsible for customer satisfaction and must make sure your staff is providing excellent customer service. Facilitate a smooth line of communication between the servers and the kitchen. Several years of experience working in restaurants, preferably with some time spent in a supervisory role.

The Front of House Manager reports directly to the General Manager. In the absence of the General Manager, FOH manager reports to the Owner. This position is Exempt under FLSA.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

❖ Greet guests

❖ Train FOH staff

❖ Oversee that all opening and closing duties are completed correctly and that cleanliness and maintenance are maintained

❖ Set and maintain a shift schedule

❖ Oversee day-to-day operations in the FOH

❖ Assist servers with serving food and drink orders as needed

❖ Ensure customer satisfaction by quickly fixing any issues

❖ Facilitate quick and efficient communication between front and back-of-house (BOH)

❖ Develop strong communication and line reporting procedures to guide service implementation making improvements or changes where required

❖ Implement safe working practices to ensure safety of building occupiers and visitors

❖ Coordinate their staff to ensure the delivery of exceptional front of house services.

❖ Implement dynamic operational working procedures, to support the delivery of service excellence

❖ Enforce and monitor all health, safety, and sanitation standards of FOH and staff

❖ Handle guests complaints according to provided guidelines

❖ Assist General manager in beverage and bar supply inventory, ordering, and product selection.

❖ Assist in inventory of disposables and paper goods.

❖ Embrace, uphold, and implement the restaurant’s service concept.

Food and Beverage safety and planning:

❖ Enforce sanitary practices for food handling and delivery, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.

❖ Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality guest service.

❖ Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.

❖ Estimate beverage costs. Work with the General Manager for efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies. Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation of beverages to minimize waste.

❖ Must be ServSafe certified.

❖ Will uphold all ServSafe guidelines.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

❖ 10+ employees each shift

Qualifications:

❖ 2+ years restaurant experience

❖ Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

❖ Organized and capable of multi-tasking with attention to detail

❖ Knowledge of Microsoft applications including word and excel

❖ High standards of personal hygiene and personal appearances

❖ Ability to be on feet for several hours at a time

❖ Experience using POS systems preferred

Physical Demands:

❖ May have to fill in for his/her employees or if emergencies arise.

❖ Ability to perform all functions at the restaurant level.

❖ Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 50 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.

❖ Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operates phones, computers, copiers, and other office equipment.

Education:

❖ High school diploma or GED equivalent

❖ Associate degree (A.S.) from two-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour
