Description of Position: The Housekeeper provides a clean, sanitary, comfortable, orderly, and satisfying surroundings for the residents, employees, and public.

Responsibilities of the Housekeeper:

  • Ensure that the policies and procedures are effective and enforced to support the health and safety of the residents.
  • Assists lead housekeeper with laundry as needed.
  • Takes direction from Lead Housekeeper and may work in resident’s room, memory care unit, homes, grounds, or building common areas.
  • Operates various mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, buffers, etc.
  • Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning, and replacement of equipment and furnishings.
  • Responsible for disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials.
  • Handles various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc. Must comply with all regulations such as OSHA and the State Health Department.
  • Damp dust furniture, light fixtures, windowsills, etc.
  • Empty trash containers. ü Change bedding and make bed as directed.
  • Vacuum and wet mop floors in all residents’ rooms and bathrooms weekly.
  • Clean wash basins, mirrors, commodes, tubs, and showers weekly.
  • Check all vacant rooms to keep fresh.
  • Report any needed repairs immediately to supervisor (such as leaky faucets, loose tiles, broken windowpanes, etc).
  • Review and utilize the Community’s disaster preparedness plan for staff and residents to follow in case of fire, explosion, natural disaster, or other emergency, including interruption of electrical power supply, gas-heating supply and water supply.
  • Use safety precautions in all housekeeping services.
  • Adhere to all safety, infection control, building and life safety guidelines and state regulations for assisted living communities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Housekeeper or Maintenance Manager.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have an acceptable criminal background record check.
  • Must keep a current certification in emergency first aid and CPR.
  • Must have a clear tuberculosis screening upon hire to assure that the employee is free of diseases communicable within the scope of employment.
  • Must have a physical examination prior to employment and as required by the Community after an injury or illness to assure that the employee is physically qualified to work.
  • Must be able to bend/stoop, climb, reach above shoulder level, kneel, balance, push, pull, squat, crouch, lift, and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must have training in emergency evacuation procedures, medical and social needs of the residents, resident’s rights, abuse and neglect reporting, infection control, medication assistance, dementia, and courses relevant to the job duties.
  • Must obtain the community’s required continuing education courses annually.
  • Employee must not be under the influence of alcohol or other substances while engaged in any work-related activity on behalf of the Community.
  • Employee must wear a name tag at all times while on the property or engaged in any work-related activity on behalf of the Community.
  • Able to work various schedules and shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
