REPORTS TO: Colville Business Council

LOCATION: Omak, Washington


BASIC FUNCTIONS: The incumbent is empowered by delegated authority from the Colville Business Council (Chapter 6-5 of the Colville Tribal Code) to independently regulate gaming activities conducted on Colville Indian Lands. The Colville Tribal Gaming Commission is a necessary component in the system of checks and balances to ensure the highest degree of integrity is upheld with all gaming activities, including the tribal casinos, and to protect the public trust.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

  • Must be at least 25 years of age.
  • Must possess substantial education or experience in any of the areas: policy enforcement, gaming operations, and the practice of gaming law, gaming control, law enforcement, accounting, or public administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain STRICT confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written format.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with Gaming personnel, Tribal Council, and others.
  • Some accounting experience and the ability to read financial reports and budgets.
  • Must be willing and able to participate in Gaming Commission regular or special sessions.
  • Appointment is contingent upon successfully clearing a background screening. Must be qualified and suitable for a tribal gaming license under Tribal, State, and Federal requirements. Tribal gaming license applications must be completed and submitted with CCT job application to be considered.

Restrictions

  • May be required to enter buildings, which do not and are not required to meet handicapped accessibility standards.
  • Gaming Commissioner may not be an employee or manager of the Gaming Operations or an executive manager who has direct oversight of the Gaming Operations or Board of Director member of the Colville Tribal Federal Corporation (CTFC).
  • Gaming Commissioner may occupy non-elective and non-managerial Tribal positions and may engage in business; however, the incumbent cannot be employed in, own, or possess any interest in operations authorized/regulated by the Colville Tribal Code 6-5-1 et seq.
  • Gaming Commissioner may not participate as a player in any gaming activities conducted by the Tribes or have a financial interest in, or management responsibility for, any gaming activity.
  • Gaming Commissioner will not have been convicted of any gaming-related offense or any crime involving an element of untruthfulness or dishonesty, including but not limited to fraud, theft, bribery, or embezzlement, regardless of the degree of the offense, by any court of law.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.


TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.


If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
