Position Title: General Laborer
Position Location: Naknek, AK
Reports to: Construction Manager
FLSA Status: Temporary, Non-Exempt Compensation: $20-23/hr, plus completion bonus, food & housing

EMPLOYMENT TIMEFRAME: March 2023-June 2023

SUMMARY

Northline Seafoods is seeking a General Laborer to support construction of our seafood processing barge in Naknek, AK. The chosen candidate will be expected to work up to 60 hrs/week, depending on project requirements. Housing, food and transportation costs are covered by the Company. A completion bonus will be issued for employees who complete their contract commitment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Assist construction team and skilled laborers in the assembly and installation of equipment, or other tasks as necessary
• Help with painting projects, yard set-up/clean-up, and general maintenance
• Safely operate various power tools including but not limited to: grinders, drills, saws, hammer drills, pressure washer, plasma cutter
• Prep construction site by cleaning obstacles and hazard
• Load or unload construction materials

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working on construction sites and/or shipyards highly preferred
• Knowledge of construction site best practices and safety procedures preferred
• Experience with manual and power tools
• Highschool diploma/GED preferred
• Must be dependable and punctual
• Ability and willingness to follow instructions and be a team player

This job operates in an outdoor shipyard in rural Alaska. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particulars, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration, and/or foreign objects resulting from welding and grinding activities. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee is regularly required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, twist and bend, as well as talk and hear. Employee must be able to work in confined spaces, possibly crouched for prolonged periods of time. The position requires the employee to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
