Position Summary / Purpose

Provide leadership, accountability and coordination of company financial planning and budget management functions. Ensure that company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.

Assist in managing the profitability and cash flow of the business that will assure the continued liquidity and growth of the company and the financial well-being of its stakeholders.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the monitoring and reporting of the company financial planning and budgets
  • Prepare the financial reports and forecasts
  • Engage with the preparation and quality of data held within Summit’s project management software and other job-costing tools used by operational staff
  • Preparation of the monthly KPI report and reporting with Controller
  • Monitor and analyze weekly/monthly operating results against budget
  • Monitor and analyze weekly/monthly lags and report on them to operational leaders
  • Monitor and analyze weekly/monthly marketing costs against budget
  • Monitor and analyze weekly/monthly cash collections against goals
  • Reconciliation and Month End for the Debt Schedule
  • Reconciliation and Month End for the Fixed Asset and Depreciation Schedules
  • Assist in financial planning, procurement, and investments of the company
  • Make any recommendations based on leading indicators of the financial and operating performance of departments, divisions and branches
  • Ability to work in, and fill every roll within the department
  • Ability to multitask among multiple positions at the same time
  • Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of AP, AR - Collections, Payroll, Inventory, Payroll & Compliance.
  • Input and/or upload and verify all payroll entries in the time keeping system including deductions, garnishments, earnings, gross ups, manual checks, terminations, adjustments and manual checks in the payroll system.
  • Ability to take on projects and see them through to completion.
  • Prepares computer input forms, enters data into computer files, or computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll records.
  • Ensure Year-End is closed properly and all processes are completed.
  • Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Prepares periodic payment requests for taxes and deductions.
  • Compile, input and verify any additional data to be included in the final payroll prior to processing of W-2s, and process W-2 corrections as appropriate.

Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or related fields. Minimum of 3 years experience in accounting/finance positions with similar sized and larger organizations.
  • Finance, Accounting, Budgeting and Cost Control
  • Knowledge of the principles and concepts and experience in these areas – including generally accepted accounting principles. Knowledge of federal and state / provincial financial regulations.
  • Ability to prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. Working knowledge of short budgeting and forecasting.

Mathematical Skills

  • Possesses strong mathematical skills. Recognizes inconsistencies across multiple reports and sets of data. Able to spot and account for data trends.

  • Demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills in the use of computers, the internet, PDAs and other digital technology specific to the job as well as MS Word, Excel and other industry-specific software.

Working Conditions

  • GL Accountants work is typically carried out in an office environment. Occasionally traveling to and meeting with employees in multiple locations, customers, clients, or vendors at their facilities is required.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
