Job Description and Qualifications

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Government Compliance & Contract Specialist at our global headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The Government Compliance & Contract Specialist is responsible for contract management activities related to government contracts in the US and Canada. Overall responsibilities include ensuring contract compliance and efficient contract administration, establishing and maintaining excellent customer relations, both internally and externally, and participating in the government incentive development for new business opportunities. You will participate in proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications.

The specialist must have the knowledge of government contractual terms and conditions in order to advise the project team of required obligations and risks and assist with developing and implementing strategies to reduce/mitigate compliance and performance risks, maintain project reporting and records in accordance with government requirements, and maintain historical information.

In this role, you will:
  • Handle the negotiation, administration, extension, termination, and renegotiations of contracts.
  • Oversee the evaluation of contract performance to resolve necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts, and compliance to contractual obligations.
  • Ensure communications are maintained for timely contract execution by the parties.
  • Ensure final contract documents are consistent with agreements reached at negotiations.
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining government contracting processes and standards and maintain a contract administration system to track and ensure that the company and its third-party contractors comply with the terms, conditions, and specifications of their agreements.

This area is viewed as an important part of the company’s strategic growth plans thus the Government Compliance & Contract Specialist will also have the opportunity to work on and contribute to key projects that are poised to enable the company to deliver climate benefits and work alongside our customers on their energy transition plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment. MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of contract administration experience. Sound working knowledge of contracting practices such as Federal Acquisition Regulations, Government Cost Accounting Standards, preferably with experience on government contracts.
  • Strong communications skills with an ability to work independent of functional management while handling the successful completion of program requirements.
  • Account management experience with a working knowledge of accounting and finance.
