Position Title: Grants Writer

Department: Program Development

Reports To: Director Program Development

POSITION SUMMARY

One full-time position available. Position is primarily responsible for writing funding requests to public and private funding agencies to support the various services provided by integrated healthcare service provider to include substance use disorder, mental health, primary medical care, HIV/AIDS and housing services. Must have excellent writing and editing skills and ability to manage multiple writing projects at the same time. Position is responsible for writing letters of intent, drafting/requesting letters of support, writing application narrative sections, and application editing work. Person must be an excellent team player, detail oriented, possess great writing and organization skills, and be familiar with community-based health services. Qualified candidates will be proficient MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Person will at minimum have a bachelor’s level degree in a health-related field or at least 1 year experience as a grant writer. This is an on-site position.

Salary Range

$30- $44 / Hour DOE

HOURS

8 per Day / 5 Days per Week

CATEGORIES OF DUTIES

  • Research and identify possible funding sources including; follow up on possible funding leads, secure funding applications, monitor funding source web pages, and review funding opportunities.
  • Interview and gather specific program information from Program Directors, Supervisors, and Direct Patient Care staff to determine new or continuing program design, scope of work, budget, and program evaluation requirements.
  • Write, edit, and proofread proposals and reports to corporate, foundation, and government funders, using specific program and community data and statistics.
  • Utilize a project management approach in the identification and completion of activities associated with grant submissions and report any barriers associated with the timely and proper completion of all grant submissions to the Grants Manager and/or Department Director.
  • Understand and identify evaluative procedures and systems for each proposal.
  • Write all assigned grant applications with accuracy, completeness and clarity in accordance with grant requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of current general and behavioral healthcare issues and trends.
  • Participate in staff development and training as appropriate.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Department Director.

DIGITAL CONTENT WRITER SPECIFIC DUTIES

Develop written content for agency’s internet and social media presence that reflects core services provided by agency, including; substance use disorder treatment (SUD), mental health, primary medical care, HIV/AIDS, housing and other social services. Position produces and links written content to agency social media platforms in a reader friendly and compelling format. Position works with Senior Management team to solicit, collect, analyze, process, and post said content according to agency’s internal and social media policies. Position responsible for developing and reviewing agency marking material (flyers/brochures) and developing written documents that describe agency programs and services for the general public and potential funders. Position attends agency committee meetings as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Master’s Degree in education, public health, social work or related area preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree, plus a minimum of four (4) years program planning, implementation and evaluation experience may be substituted for a Master level degree. Demonstrated track record of successfully funded proposals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in using computer and computer equipment and software including Microsoft Office Suite of Products such as Word, Project, Word, Excel and Outlook. Organized, friendly and professional.
