Summary/Objective: Responsible for performing prepress production functions for the Graphics Department. Prepares both digital files and film separations for production, adhering to quality checks and standards. Provides communication to Production Personnel for specifications related to printing. Requires direct communication with the Engineering Department, other Graphics Prepress Production Technicians, and Production Personnel.

Essential Functions

  • Utilize Setup Templates per defined guidelines to prepare artwork files for production.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Department, Production Personnel and Graphics Prepress Production Technicians on a professional level.
  • Perform file manipulation and image correction.
  • Step and repeat graphics on approved Print Templates.
  • Generate print layouts through the use of auto-populating graphic tools.
  • Utilize and adhere to information provided in the Graphics Database.
  • Maintain specific information relating to print file creation in the Graphics Database.
  • Provide color targets and FPO resources used in production.
  • Color match artwork to required color targets in multiple print methods.
  • Rip files for output using a Wasatch Rip Engine and Momentum Rip.
  • Adhere to quality processes, procedures, and standards when building and supplying print layouts for production.
  • Adhere to file storage and naming convention standards.
  • Create film mylars for products as needed.
  • Create film separations for screenprinting, utilizing trapping, file manipulation, and color correcting techniques.
  • Perform quality checks on files and films to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Communicate graphic file build and production layout issues and concerns, when applicable.
  • General cleaning and light maintenance on Roland and Mutoh Image Setter devices.
  • Participate in creation of rigorous processes to refine the production process and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Cross-training with other Graphics Department roles as necessary

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

Knowledge and expertise in:

  • Software: Highly proficient in a Mac-based platform with Adobe Creative Suite (mainly Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro), Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Wasatch Ripping Software (preferred)
  • Solid knowledge of the 4 color process and pantone print process
  • Knowledgeable in preparing quality digital artwork files for production
  • Familiar with production requirements for both digital and screen printing methods, including trapping (preferred)

Required Education and Experience

Associate or Bachelor degree of Fine Arts in Graphic Design

2+ years experience in a graphic production environment (preferred)
