    License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia Class C Driver's License required. CAT.24 Pesticide license preferred and must be able to obtain CAT.24 within 180 days of employment.

    Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required.

    Experience Qualifications: Experience in landscape maintenance/installation, including commercial grounds maintenance, parks maintenance, or plant nursery preferred.

    Skills Qualifications: Ability to operate commercial mowing and related landscape equipment, specifically Hustler mowers, and ability to follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately. Knowledge and ability to apply herbicides as directed.

    Primary Responsibilities: Perform landscape maintenance and construction tasks as part of a crew and supervise contract services as assigned.

    1. Responsible for performing landscape maintenance tasks at school campuses, including mowing of school lawns & playgrounds.
    a. Prune plant material and mulch planting beds.
    b. Maintain school campuses in a safe and attractive manner.
    c. Assist the Head Groundskeeper with planning and directing contractors.


    2. Perform first echelon operator maintenance on landscape equipment and vehicles.


    3. Assist the Head Groundskeeper in the completion of Work Order Reports and other required record keeping.


    4. Demonstrate knowledge of grounds keeping hazards and safety procedures.


    5. Work cooperatively with other members of the Grounds Maintenance Department and supervision of contracted services


    6. Cooperate with and maintain a positive relationship with all other district employees.


    7. Perform other duties as assigned

    Physical Demands:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
