General Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting in running the salon by performing a variety of customer service duties in order to maintain assigned area(s) in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition; performing duties in accordance with established procedures to insure smooth and consistent salon operations on a daily basis; coordinating work within the unit or department; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information.

Education /Experience: A high school diploma or GED and a valid Pennsylvania Cosmetology License required.

Essential Duties

• Receives customers, selects materials and supplies, and provides the residents with a salon service that meets the resident’s wishes.
• Sweeps floors after residents leave.
• Empties, cleans, and relines waste baskets.
• Uses a special cleaning solution or germicides to prevent the spread of infection or disease; washes combs, brushes, sinks, and mirrors; replaces disposable items such as towels, and shampoo.
• Arranges and moves furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion; adheres to proper lifting and bending procedures; requests help in moving furniture as necessary.
• Maintains equipment and supplies in an orderly manner; notifies supervisor when supply levels are low; maintains utility room in a clean and orderly condition.
• Assists in transferring residents’ personal items from one room to the Beauty Salon.
• Insures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe secure environment.
• Follows standard precautions; ensures proper handling of blood-borne pathogens including use of gloves, gowns, masks, and eye coverings.
• Maintains awareness of individual responsibilities under the established Fire Safety-Disaster Plan.
• Insures the confidentiality of all resident and/or employee-related information.
