New Bedford Panoramex is seeking to hire a HARDWARE SYSTEMS ENGINEER. This person will apply principles and techniques of engineering, mathematics, electrical and computer science to the design, development, and testing of electrical hardware, software applications for computers.

Responsible for working on projects that are currently being developed by the company and many upcoming technically refreshed programs.

Essential Functions

1. Develop and direct software, electrical system validation and testing methods.

2. Support of software programming initiatives.

3. Development of documentation.

4. Work closely with clients and cross-functional departments to communicate project statuses and proposals.

5. Analyze data to effectively coordinate the installation of new systems or the modification of existing systems.

6. Manage software development lifecycle.

7. Monitor system performance.

8. Communicate key project data to team members and build cohesion among teams.

9. Develop and execute project plans.

10. Apply mathematics and statistics to problem-solving initiatives.

11. Apply best practices and standard operating procedures.

12. Create innovative solutions to meet our company’s technical needs.

13. Test new software and fix bugs.

14. Research and draft blueprints, engineering plans, and graphics.

15. Develop test prototypes.

16. Identify solutions to improve production efficiency.

17. Use design software to develop models and drawing of new products.

18. Maintain existing engineering records and designs.

19. Assess all engineering prototypes to determine issues or risks.

20. Coordinate with other engineers, management, and the creative department

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creation/decomposition of hardware technical requirements documentation
  • Ensure appropriate traceability of hardware technical requirements
  • Create and support the creation of risk management documentation such as DFMEA
  • Assess and characterize technologies that will meet our business needs
  • Lead projects and communicate project status to cross-functional audience
  • Lead reviews of hardware technical requirements, risk management documentation, and hardware technical reviews
  • Lead and direct technical discussions to gain agreement
  • Define hardware system component integration
  • Maintain hardware system configuration through engineering change management
  • Support the creation of verification and validation planning and protocols
  • Support verification and validation data analysis and troubleshooting
  • Create and update system configuration documentation
  • Support creation and update of hardware installation documentation
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Lead process improvements for the hardware systems engineering group

Work with project team to create and set schedules

  • Serve as technical lead on projects

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or related engineering discipline.
Strong knowledge and direct experience in applying Systems Engineering principles
including:

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as lab coats/ESD and safety glasses.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The position also requires the ability to perform physically demanding activities. Must be able to push, bend, stoop, pull, lift and carry numerous components, racks, wiring, computers and equipment. Maximum single equipment and/or component weight of 25 pounds. May involve repetitive hand motion.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience

A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering or another related field is required.
