Position: Harm Reduction Advocate
Status: Minimum 40 hours Week
Salary: $20 - $28

Region: North / East/ South Counties

The harm reduction advocate reports directly to the program manager. He/she provides supportive services to MAT and WM clients and staff, as well as care coordination that includes assisting clients to access needed housing, medical, educational, social, prevocational, vocational, rehabilitative, or other community services. Focused on care coordination of SUD care particularly to MAT and WM clients, the harm reduction advocate ensures integration around primary care including for clients with a chronic substance use disorder, and/or co-occurring conditions, and interaction with CWS, DDC, and criminal justice system, if needed.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience: Must be a certified/registered alcohol and drug counselor in compliance with all DHCS standards licensed and/or licensed eligible California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Past experience should demonstrate at least two years of behavioral health experience; proven ability to work across multiple systems such as Probation, CWS, DDC, criminal justice, etc.; and strong knowledge of and relationships with community resources. Must be able to pass a drug test, background clearance, and provide a negative TB test. Must be free of probation or parole for at least one year. Must have a clean driving record, with a minimum of two years driving experience. Skills include strong paperwork and computer skills, ability to maintain-up-to-date records, exceptional written and verbal communication; ability to work in a team; excellent time management skills; and organizational abilities. Must comply with all agency and contract requirements related to trainings, public health, certifications, reporting, etc. Bilingual proficiency preferred.
