Head chef/kitchen manager in the San Juan Islands. Job at Canoe Island French Camp
Canoe Island French Camp, a French language and outdoor summer camp located on a private 45-acre island, is looking for three members of a chef team: a head chef/kitchen manager, a pâtissière/baker, and a sous chef/prep chef. The kitchen team of three cook excellent meals for 75 enthusiastic campers and staff. Chefs prepare three meals a day from scratch; the meals are often French or French-inspired. Three volunteer teenage assistants help the chef team with prep work and dishes.
These three professional positions on our chef team start in early June and ends in mid-September.
The head chef position is $140 per day and 6 days a week.
The pâtissière/baker position is $130 per day and 6 days a week.
The sous chef/prep cook is $120 per day and five days a week.
These positions include private room and board. Amenities include swimming pool, tennis court, kayaks, canoes.
The ideal candidate for our head chef should have experience in kitchen management, including ordering, meal planning, and cooking for large groups. He/she should also have experience with French cuisine.
Our pâtissière should have experience with French baked goods (e.g. baguettes!) and be comfortable using a laminator to create croissants (and other Viennoiseries) from scratch.
Candidates should enjoy children and living in small community with young/energetic staff. Must be kind, calm, patient, and willing to train staff.
