Job Responsibilities:

The Head of Fund Development will build and implement a development strategy across Goodwill Keystone Area’s 22 county region that engages the community and grows revenue in alignment with our mission, vision, and strategic priorities; establish the organization's internal fundraising structure while also developing and executing the agency's fundraising strategy and building external relationships with community leaders, funders, and philanthropists; work in collaboration with Goodwill Keystone Area leadership team and board of directors to create a culture of philanthropy.
A. Builds and implements development strategies across our 22 county region that engages the community and grows revenue in alignment with our mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
B. Develops cases for continued support of the organization that aligns with the immediate and long-term organizational needs and priorities.
C. Partners with and supports the Chief Culture Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors and Goodwill leaders in advancing fundraising goals.
D. Grows resources by building relationships with funders and investors who are passionate about the strategic direction of Goodwill Keystone Area.
E. Finds funding to subsidize existing and new mission programs.
F. Identifies and applies for grant funding from foundations, corporate funders, workforce investment boards and state/federal dollars to align with the goals outlined in the strategic plan.
G. Assist with creating long-term financial sustainability for programs/services initiated through Research and Development efforts.
H. Plans and implements multi-faceted fundraising campaigns (annual giving, major gift programs, corporate matching gifts, planned giving, special events, grant writing and capital campaigns, etc.) that align with leadership’s short and long-term goals and activities.
I. Continually monitors fundraising progress and donor stewardship to provide analytic reports to Chief Culture Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and the Board of Directors.
J. Develops opportunities for the Board of Directors to participate in advancement efforts while capitalizing on board member’s resources, talents and networks.
K. Maintains an accurate donor database, including data entry and generating reports.
L. Provides oversight and strategic direction around government funding applications and compliance related to private grants.
M. Builds a culture of continuous improvement by using data to drive decisions and make course corrections when necessary.
N. Monitors key fundraising trends and issues and communicates their implications to the Chief Culture Officer and Chief Executive Officer with suggested action.
O. Promotes an environment of workplace safety. Assures that duties are performed in a safe manner and safety requirements are adhered to.
P. Communicates progress, problems, and concerns to the Chief Culture Officer.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Philanthropic Studies, Business, Communications, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Finance, Economics or related degree plus a minimum of five (5) years in fundraising experience.
  • Experience as a frontline fundraiser with demonstrated success in personally cultivating, soliciting and securing major gifts.
  • Increasing experience and responsibility in a development or advancement department, including oversight, major gift solicitations and campaigns as well as donor development.
  • CFRE preferred.
  • Strong results orientation and a proven track record in setting and achieving ambitious goals.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence; specifically, awareness, attitude, knowledge, willingness and skills to work effectively with a culturally and demographically diverse population.
  • Exercise diplomatic persistence in the cultivation of donors. Demonstrate the ability to close the deal.
  • Exceptional analytical judgment, decision-making and communications skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret hard data and metrics.
  • Ability to write creatively and articulately with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of potential funders, community partners or employees of the organization.
  • Collaborative and self-motivated; resourceful, creative; high integrity; problem solver; looks to resolve issues; positive can-do approach with bias to action; and ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle or reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel within GKA territory.

Salary range $ 77,847.80 - $96,336.66 annually.
