Fenner Dunlop is looking for an enthusiastic Safety Coordinator to join our Safety team at our Lavonia manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for providing technical health and safety support to Manufacturing Operations and administrative personnel; implement Group, Corporate Health & Safety objectives and programs; ensure employees receive required training; ensure compliance with current Federal and State health and safety regulations. This position reports to the HR & Safety Manager.

For over 150 years, Fenner Dunlop has researched, designed, developed, manufactured, and tested its conveyor belting products, supporting nearly any type of conveyor application, and providing the right solutions to protect conveyor system investments in the harshest conveying environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Proactively engage with production operation to identify, formulate, and re-enforce safe work practices and policies.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement elements of a strong safety culture throughout the workforce. Collaborate with other FDA locations to ensure best practices.
  • Craft and promote the annual Safety Management Plan and projects such as chemical inventory, SDS Program, wastewater, formaldehyde monitoring and ergonomic projects for FDA Lavonia.
  • Assist leadership team in the development, communication, and implementation of site safety priorities. Outline specific safety objectives to support these priorities
  • Drive actions to reduce injuries and serious incidents through proactive routine audits.
  • Develop/Review/Update Task Safety Analysis and Safey Policies, conduct related training.
  • Proactively identify workplace hazards and encourage production team to do the same (near miss, hazard ID, safe behaviors, etc.).
  • Conduct incident/accident investigations using problem solving methods that tracks root causes, corrective actions to completion, and verify proper corrective action. Handle all worker compensation claims. File claims and schedule appointments and create a return-to-work plan.
  • Identify, prepare, manage, maintain, coordinate and help develop written environmental, safety and health programs and policies in accordance with Federal/State/Local regulations, OSHA regulations and Fenner Dunlop objectives.
  • Conduct risk assessments providing guidance and recommendations to mitigate unsafe practices and risk. Risk preventions include hazardous materials exposure, accidents, fires, or other unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct and/or facilitates required safety training and helps maintain all safety training records and tracks issues, including leading indicators, findings, and trends.
  • Assist the Corporate Safety and Human Resources Department with the Corporate Drug & Alcohol Policy; (i.e. random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident testing.)
  • Plan and conduct all required safety drills in the facilities to ensure that all employees are trained and know what to do.
  • Meet compliance and reporting requirements of federal or provincial and state regulations and serves as the site level point of contact for any local, state, or federal government related safety/environmental inspections.
  • Lead efforts to improve safety record keeping, using technology to improve and streamline record keeping and compliance efforts.
  • Use technology tools to improve and streamline safety reporting, data trending, and record keeping.
  • Work safely at all times, being an example of compliance with safe work practices and Fenner Dunlop policies.
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings.
  • Promote, record and track all safety initiatives within FDA; including safety issues, leading/lagging indicators and accidents.
  • Prepare and submit reports as necessary.
  • Professional behavior is required during working hours, while on customer site and while traveling for Fenner Dunlop business.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Safety or a related discipline from a four year college or university or a minimum of 6 years experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience applying OSHA guidelines in industrial settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and organize detailed information and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to use high level verbal and written communication in training settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to use current technology to facilitate business activities, including training, record keeping, and communication. High level capabilities in MS Office, and ability to learn new technology.
  • 4+ years experience providing technical safety consultation and support in an industrial setting.
  • Able to travel between 10%-25% of the time.
