The HIM Tech (Non-Cert) performs a variety of duties pertaining to the daily functions within the Health Information Management Department such as providing customer services, copying, processing and scanning paper medical records into the electronic medical record.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Experience in healthcare preferred.
General Responsibilities:
- Preps and scans paper medical records into the electronic medical record. Performs quality control and validates the images prior to posting in the electronic medical record. Analyzes records for quantitative deficiencies such as missing signatures, missing reports, etc.
- Provides assistance to the Release of Information area by processing requests as needed. Copies record for patient transfers.
- Answers the phone and processes the requests accordingly.
- Retrieves and reconciles the discharge patient records from the clinical units.
