Title: Histotechnologist

Shift: M-F 8AM-5PM
Minimum Assignment Length (months): 12

Kelly Science has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Histologist to operate and maintain microtome and tissue processing equipment to provide optimum quality slides and assists with quality management and inventory duties as assigned. Duties include, but are not limited to, organizing workload, accessioning specimens, tissue embedding, cutting, and staining. The Histology Technician follows all safety, environmental, and infection prevention policies and complies with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Requirements:

• This position requires a High School Diploma with at least 2 years of prior job experience as a histology technician.
• A candidate possessing a Histotechnician certificate from the American Society for Clinical Pathology is strongly preferred
• Must be able to verbally demonstrate an understanding of basic histology principles as they relate to laboratory testing
• Required Skills/Abilities:
• Proficient in the operation of a microtome to section formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks
• Experience in performing hematoxylin/eosin staining of tissue slides
• Knowledge of how to use tissue processing instrument and embedder to fix, process, and embed tissues into FFPE blocks
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
