WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
LAEP is currently seeking a Home-Based Early Childhood Educator who will serve as a role model and coach to parents by providing child development services, social services, health services and parent involvement services through home visits.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct weekly home visits with 10 to 12 families, and facilitate bi-monthly socialization activities in partnership with other Early Childhood Educators and families.
  • Plan home visits and socialization activities according to home base curriculum and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Complete developmental screenings and ongoing assessment of eligible children and their families.
  • Establish positive, supportive and reciprocal relationships with families, children, and community resources.
  • Support the transition of families from Early Head Start to Head Start or other preschool programs.
  • Assist parents of children with disabilities to insure they are involved in the planning and implementation of all EHS program services.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly staff meetings for case conferencing and reflective supervision.
  • Provide and maintain appropriate data and files of children and families as defined by the Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Participate in on-going professional development to better serve EHS families.
  • Participate in IFSP or IEP meetings, as required.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain a professional attitude, confidentiality, and respect cultural differences.
Absolute Must-Haves (Requirements):
  • Associate degree AA in Early Childhood Education plus CDA Credential required
  • BA or higher in Early Education preferred
  • Early Head Start knowledge and experience in home visitation preferred

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
