Part-time, temporary position
Pay rate: $30/hour
We have an immediate need for Homebound Instructors, especially for high school students.
Flexible hours based upon schedule coordinated with student's family.
Essential Functions:
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following actions:
- Delivers the lesson plan created by the classroom teacher
- Meets and instructs the students(s) in the locations and at the time designated;
- Provides an effective program of instruction to include:
- Instructional skills;
- Knowledge of child growth and development;
- Knowledge and use of materials and resources in accordance with the adopted curriculum and consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided;
- Demonstrates mastery of content area;
- Maintains and upholds school and county policies and procedures;
- Maintains records as required by law, system policy, and administrative regulations;
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all students;
- Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relations with others;
- Current understanding of culturally responsive teaching practices
- Strong communication skills with colleagues and families using a variety of methods.
- Understanding of current best-practices related to social-emotional learning.
- Uses and asset-based mindset when working with students
- Uses problem solving strategies in all aspects of the work.
- Possesses a growth mindset and is open to new and innovative practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Candidates must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching certificate with endorsement in applicable subject area.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Occasional contact with medical professionals may be required. Frequent contact with parents by phone and in person is necessary. Travel to designated meeting place.
