Director of Sales Job Description
Reports to: General Manager/Management Company team
The Director of Sales is responsible for achieving budgeted top line room and Catering revenue for the hotel through coaching, directing, assisting all sales personnel and/or assigned sales staff, in achieving their revenue goals.
The DOS will work closely with revenue management and Catering team all revenue driving functions, to develop strategies to maximize revpar and grow continuous Catering market share.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Focus on increasing and driving overall overnight accommodation and Catering business by pro-actively soliciting accounts, establishing solid relationships to maximize revenue Share shift business within the market through market intelligence, research and pro-active sales initiatives Motivate and energize the staff to make proactive decisions in all their communications and solicitation with clients
Ability to effectively understand industry related reports, keep up on industry trends and sell through evolving business climates
Proficiently be able to manage, solicit and work with a diverse client list Create and advertise weekly, monthly and quarterly sales goals and keep all key personnel apprised of the progress (successes and challenges)
Prepare sales reports and sign off on their accuracy before submitting them to management Assess the competitive landscape and institute changes to the sales program and climate in response to competitors’ changes, market changes and demands
Establish a referral network with local businesses and find ways to maximize value from those connections
Work with key management company to implement sales training and orientation programs to educate new hires as our company grows

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
- Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.
- Participate as team player with other Executive Team Members and associates
- Provide constructive feedback to all departments and to hotel sales and marketing staff.
- Be a leader and role model to all employees.
- Additional duties as necessary and assigned.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Most tasks are performed in a team environment with the employee acting as a team leader. There is minimal direct supervision.
- Must possess basic computational ability.
- Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel and STS.
- Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.
- Extensive knowledge of sales skills.
- Ability to assess/evaluate employees performance fairly.
- Extensive knowledge of revenue management.
- Ability to recruit, supervise, direct, train and motivate multiple levels of managers.
- Knowledge of hotel and competitive market.
- Ability to analyze data and establish appropriate action plans.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $68,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
