ABOUT THE POSITION

The Majestic and Empire Theatres are looking for House/Access Managers to join our Front of House and Event Staff Team! The House Manager position is a frontline customer service position providing first-rate experiences to patrons attending events. House Managers work as part of the event team to ensure the successful event execution per policies, guidelines, and venue management best practices. House managers also work as members of our Accessibility team and are available to aid patrons with a wide array of accommodations to provide excellent patron experiences for all guests. The House/Access Manager position contributes to ensuring the health and safety of patrons, staff, and the facility. The position provides leadership for the Experience Guides & Ambassador staff during events.


PEOPLE, PLACES, and THINGS

  • The Majestic Theatre (92 years) and Charline McCombs Empire Theatre (107 years) are two of San Antonio’s most beloved landmarks, located in the heart of Downtown.
  • Reports to Customer Experience Director and Theatre Services Manager
  • Assist patrons with accessibility needs to and from their seat.
  • Provide patrons with sensory sensitivity tools for a more comfortable and enjoyable experience such as our Sensory Bags. They provide assisted listening devices as needed and assist patrons with setting up GalaPro Audio description services when available.
  • Assists with venue preparation by conducting health and safety checks of the venue.
  • Attends pre-event meetings to obtain event specific information.
  • Leads assigned Experience Guides & Ambassadors in the execution of event specific details and venue preparation.
  • Collaborates with other team members to accomplish tasks.
  • Assists with the enforcement of company policies, with a focus on safety and customer experience.
  • Responds quickly and courteously to patrons’ needs, questions, comments, or concerns with answers and/or action.
  • Accurately completes paperwork, such as house reports, safety checklists, lost and found logs, and incident reports.


EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • The ideal candidate enjoys working with public and providing excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of the arts and entertainment industry is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience for problem solving while following established guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stress and multitask.
  • Ability to monitor physical surroundings in assigned area prior to and throughout event for safety, cleanliness, and functionality. Provide optimal assistance to patrons in an emergency or evacuation.
  • Provide accurate information to patrons regarding venue logistics (i.e., location of ticket office, restrooms, concessions, etc.), Event details, & Venue/building history

COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to read, communicate and exchange information clearly with Patrons & Staff.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
  • Must have reliable transportation for reporting to work at the designated start of the shift.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of friendliness and a professional demeanor while delivering an exceptional experience to event patrons.
  • Ability to tolerate moderate to very loud noise levels and moderate to large groups of people.
  • Must have flexible schedule availability and the ability to work long hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 5 events per month.
  • Ability to ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs and maneuver throughout the theatre in dim or reduced lighting.
  • Must be able move/roam throughout the venue for a minimum of 5 hours a time.
  • Positively accepts and fulfils other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout duration of the shift and move/roam throughout the venue for a minimum of 5 hours at a time.
  • Capacity to lift, carry and move items up to 30 pounds throughout the theatre on an occasional basis.
