DESCRIPTION

Managing the house of a Sober Living Environment. This person is responsible for the health and safety of the residents while living in the house. Requirements include maintaining the facilities, the supplies, and house rules following a covenant of sobriety and responsibility developed using a 12-step model. Communicating effectively with residents, community volunteers, and county and city employees. Maintaining a mentoring/leadership role in your sobriety to influence residents.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

If in recovery, a minimum of two years of sobriety; or 1 year of sobriety and 1 year of related experience working with people with alcohol and/or drug addictions.

Principle Responsibilities:

The following responsibilities represent the essential functions of the position. An employee in this classification is responsible for carrying out the following functions:

  • Maintain a Covenant with residents, encouraging and monitoring commitment and compliance to the traditions of a Social Model of recovery. Initiate new residents.
  • Collect rent, food stamps, or other commitments to cover expenses of the SLE.
  • Maintain kitchen supplies, and cleaning supplies, and develop chore lists for residents. Provide light building maintenance and landscaping.
  • Communicate with the supervisor on a regular basis with concerns around sobriety, rent due, covenant violations, and health or safety violations.
  • Communicate effectively with residents. Conduct weekly house meetings. Facilitate respectful dialogue, cooperation, and mutual consideration.
  • Meet regularly with County Behavioral Health Department staff to discuss issues of the house and resident commitments.
  • Communicate effectively with the landlord, building owner, building management, city ordinance employees, and law or code enforcement personnel.
  • Assures compliance with all safety and health regulations.
  • Assures compliance with all client confidentiality requirements.
  • May perform special projects or other duties as assigned to assure the efficiency of the program.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in MS Word
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to document, and communicate verbally and in writing, and in a culturally competent and sensitive manner.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and drug addiction treatment, education, or prevention services
  • Ability to account for cash and receive payments, purchase supplies, and track expenses.

Environmental Conditions:

Constant movement around service area, and travel into the community. Time spent sitting, using a computer station, periods of intense concentration, using the telephone, paperwork. Time spent in meetings, travel to various work site locations throughout the County. Exposure to outdoor weather and environmental conditions.


NOTE: Employees will be required to be double vaccinated with a booster for COVID-19, fingerprinted, and will be subject to clearance by the Department of Justice.
