The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $16.00 to $18.03.

This position is non-exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position
The Housekeeping attendant performs a variety of basic housekeeping tasks and laundry services in support of the organization's daily operational needs within the Juvenile Detention facility.
NOTE: This position rotates shifts every four months with shifts being: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, and 10:00 am to 6:30 pm and requires regular weekend and holiday availability.

Experience:
  • Six (6) months of experience in commercial laundry, custodial, maintenance, cleaning, or similarly related work experience
Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age
  • The hiring process requires applicants to pass an interview and background investigation
  • Positions in detention are subject to Tuberculosis (TB) testing and require a negative TB result prior to starting date
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
  • Cleaning and sanitizing procedures
  • Cleaning equipment used in laundry and custodial work
  • Cleaning supply storage and rotation procedures
  • Cleaning agents and the risks of chemical reactions when solutions are mixed
Skill in:
  • Operating cleaning and laundry equipment
  • Cleaning and properly disposing of bio-hazard waste
  • Understanding and carrying out all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations (including all safety training and safety information) associated with this position
Ability to:
  • Prioritize a variety of tasks
  • Demonstrate appropriate time management
  • Communicate effectively with team members in English
  • Operate industrial cleaning equipment
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS
(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)
  • Cleans and sanitizes assigned work areas
  • Sorts, washes, dries, and folds laundry including clothes, shoes, sheets, and blankets
  • Performs custodial work and routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, disposing of trash, and cleaning restrooms
  • Utilizes industrial cleaning equipment to strip, wax, and buff floors
  • Replenishes supplies
  • Cleans and disposes of bio-hazardous waste
  • Maintains clean laundry inventory
  • Distributes clean laundry to detention units
Working conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; stand and walk for extended periods of time; stoop, bend and kneel; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and push, pull or lift up to 25 pounds. This position requires working in a secured detention facility and may require working near detained youth.

Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County. This position may be reassigned to other locations. Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
