Overview:
As a HR Business Partner I, you are responsible for providing Associate Relations support to their assigned business units or supporting the Associate Relations/Human Resources Business Partners in the areas of performance management, talent management, employment policies and associate relations. This includes but is not limited to assisting with analysis completion, performance metrics and associate attendance tracking and verification, conducting research, participating in interviews, case discussions and investigations and completing documentation. You will also handle associate disciplinary meetings, performance improvement meetings, leaves of absence and/or medical accommodation requests, provide general consultative advice and conduct in-person exit interviews. In general, you will handle highly confidential cases, assignments, and projects.

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.

The pay range listed for this position represents the low and high end of the base compensation range. The actual offer amount will carefully consider multiple factors, such as relevant skills, qualifications, work experience, location and/or competencies that align with the specified role. Responsibilities:
Associate Relations Cases:
a. Administers the Performance Management programs for various contact center departments on a timely basis. Includes completing detailed reviews of results, completing calculations and verifying the accuracy of results, as well as, ensuring adopted performance standards are adhered to and previous precedents consistently followed. Will be responsible for working through process from start to finish and facilitating disciplinary meetings and/or working to resolve specific issues under the direction of the applicable HR/ER Business Partner and direct Supervisor.
b. Administers the Attendance Guidelines for various contact centers on a timely basis. Includes completing calculations ensuring their accuracy, as well as, making sure adopted guidelines are adhered to and previous precedents consistently followed. Responsible for developing recommendations to ER leadership and departmental management on resolving issues/corrective actions and facilitating disciplinary meetings and/or working to resolve the issues.
c. Investigates, recommends and resolves associate issues for policy or internal process violations and associate concerns, complaints, etc. Conducts investigational interviews with associates and other witnesses as applicable, conducts problem evaluation, obtains factual information, interpretation of human resource policies, guidelines and labor laws, and in conjunction with the Manager-Associate Relations and appropriate management staff, determines recommended resolution and/or formal disciplinary actions as may be appropriate.

Leave Administration:
a. Serves as the subject matter expert related to family and personal medical leave situations which may qualify under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Company Short-Term Disability (STD) Policy. Understands, interprets, and applies all applicable state and federal laws in conjunction with Company policies and procedures and reviews, and evaluates all medical/family leave requests and issues approval or denial based on eligibility.
b. Determines all payroll and time-entry affecting actions related to approved employee leaves. This includes calculating and creating quotas, accurately entering time, and designating applicable entitlements qualifying under state and/or federal FMLA and/or the Company STD program. Enters time for all approved leaves based on applicable Company policies, and state/federal regulations.

  • Timely and accurately documents associate relations cases and interviews by participating in investigations, interviews, meetings and at times legal counsel updates. This includes being able to determine which information is relevant and necessary, and in a manner, which is detailed, precise, complete in nature, and legally sound. Additionally, assists other members of the ER Team with associate issues by providing support in the areas of report generation, demographic information analysis and research.
  • Manages associate medical accommodation requests which could include leaves of absence, work restrictions, and business-related requests from an associate and/or health care providers (HCP) as applicable. Manages the interactive process by working closely with the associate and their HCP to determine potential medical accommodation options.
  • Conducts in-person exit interviews with associates who voluntarily leave the Company to understand why people are leaving and to develop potential retention solutions.
  • Coordinates Unemployment Compensation. Processing of unemployment claims, responding and working with the applicable AR Business partner to coordinate attendance at hearings when necessary.
  • Performs other administrative duties as required.
  • Provides back up support to AR Team members as necessary.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years professional work experience.
Other Qualifications
  • 1 + years' experience in Human Resources preferred.
  • Outstanding attention to detail skills necessary and required.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, follow-through and ability to work well tactically and conceptually required.
  • Exceptional keyboard/typing skills with ability to key 60 + WPM.
  • Excellent documentation skills with ability to determine which information is important, relevant and necessary, in a manner which is detailed, precise, and complete in nature and legally sound ensuring all facts are captured.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge, interest and strong desire to keep up to date with Human Resource policies, standard practices, laws and regulations and proposed changes and the ability to apply them consistently.
  • Ability to conduct research, identify recommendations, and develop and communicate policies.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with demonstrated record of dealing with sensitive issues in an innovative, professional way.
  • Must have demonstrated process development/improvement skills.
  • Must set the standard for personal integrity, honesty, and teamwork.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Pursuing ongoing professional development in the area of Human Resources.
  • SHRM/HRCI Certification a plus.

Associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off benefits such as vacation (15 days accrued per year for full-time; pro-rated for part-time associates working between 20-39 hours), sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates), seven paid national holidays and one floating holiday, paid parental leave (2 weeks after 12 months of employment), among others. Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability coverage is also available for associates working 30 or more hours per week and Education Assistance is available to full-time associates. Associates scheduled to work under twenty hours per week or for a limited term (i.e. interns) are eligible for medical coverage, the 401(k) plan (if 18 or older), as well as sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates). Pay Range: $53,500.00 - $87,000.00
