American Iron & Metal (AMI) is seeking a HR Generalist, to be based in either the Oakland or Bangor Offices.

Requirements of the HR Generalist:

• No less than 3 years of relevant experience in a similar position
• Associates or bachelor's in human resource management ideal
• Microsoft Office, including Excel. Paychecks ideal
• Travel to other parts of Maine and occasionally Canada required. (Travel Compensated)
• 30 – 40 hours a week.
• Ability to commute to Oakland or Bangor on Monday through Friday 8am - 5pm.

Responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant:

• Reporting to the HR Director
• To be an advisor, coaching and supporting managers on various aspects of the daily management of their teams.
• Recruitment, workforce management, compensation, discipline management and the implementation of various HR Initiatives.
• Coordinate the needs of the workforce in collaboration with management.
• Management the recruitment process from end to end including onboarding.
• Manage all employee questions and requests (payroll, benefits, etc.)
• Coordinate performance evaluations, provide advice and coaching to managers regarding employee relation issues, including disputes, discipline and job termination.
• Participate in business and HR initiatives (Open enrollment, HR program deployment etc.)
