    EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs). Our mission as the RESC in western Connecticut to is to promote the success of area school districts and their communities. EdAdvance is also a partner in the RESC Alliance and works collaboratively with the other RESC groups to support state-wide initiatives. In addition, EdAdvance operates five specialized school programs for students who are requiring educational placement outside of their district.

    Non-exempt: $25.70 to $33.50 per hour
    Full-time: 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday

As an HR Generalist, you'll be at the forefront of providing support to our organization, school districts, and their Superintendents. Your responsibilities will include processing employment paperwork, updating our database, responding to employee inquiries, provide guidance on HR policy, and recruitment. You'll also be responsible for maintaining employee personnel files, handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion, and ensuring compliance with state and federal employment laws. To be successful in this role, you'll need a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and work experience in HR, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong attention to detail. Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations is essential, as is experience with HRIS and Microsoft Office.

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Under moderate supervision, process a variety of employment related paperwork, including new hire documents, employee status changes, database updates, employee information and other confidential employee data
    • Generate standard reports from HRIS database and respond to special information requests
    • Provide excellent customer service and act as a point of contact for employees who have routine questions regarding HR policies and procedures
    • May counsel employees directly to resolve HR issues
    • Handle workers’ compensation and unemployment claims
    • Provide guidance and interpretation of HR policy and collective bargaining agreements
    • Assist with recruitment efforts for EdAdvance
    • Establish and/or follow new hire procedures and complete onboarding
    • Support and provide backup to fingerprint technician
    • Assist with terminations and related paperwork
    • Help with employee disciplinary concerns and assist with conducting investigations
    • Handle confidential employee and payroll information; assure confidentiality, and security of information
    • Organize, maintain and update employee personnel files
    • Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications/Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and work experience in HR is required
    • Experience in educational setting is preferred
    • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of State of Connecticut Teacher Certification requirements is a plus
    • Customer Service experience responding to inquiries, interacting with employees on a daily basis, maintaining documents, and providing support
    • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task are essential
    • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, follow-through and responsiveness
    • Ability to develop effective relationships across all levels of the organization
    • Proven experience working with confidential information while maintaining the highest degree of professionalism and discretion
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
    • Working knowledge of HRIS
    • Eagerness to continuously learn
    • Willingness and ability to travel to area districts in our RESC region using own vehicle
    • Must have valid driver’s license and insurance
    • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position
