Schedule: Mon – Fri 7 AM – 3:30 PM.
Pat Rate: $21.00 Hourly with A.A. degree and $23.00 Hourly with B.A. degree.

Early Childhood Education (ECE) offers a sign-on incentive between $750 – $1500 based on annual pay/salary after completing 90 days of continuous and satisfactory employment and an annual stipend of $3000 bonus upon completion of the school year.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Center Manager, this person will be responsible for the overall monitoring and active care and supervision of the children in the classroom. HS Teacher I will work and collaborate with classroom teaching staff with planning, facilitating, & implementing individual & group activities designed to stimulate children’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth. HS Teacher I will observe individual and group activities for the purpose of assisting with observations for ongoing assessments. HS Teacher I will assist with the inclusion of children with special needs. As well as encourage parent engagement in the educational activities of the program and assists with promoting the parent as the child’s first teacher in their child’s development.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow all St. Anne’s Family Services rules and regulations.
  • Provide children with an environment that includes varied activities to help children develop socially, emotionally, intellectually and physical in manner appropriate to their age and stage of development, with the overall goal being to achieve social competence for the child.
  • Implements the program curriculum for children. Plan individual and group activities to stimulate learning and promote parent involvement in the child’s learning. Works cooperatively with Co- Teacher and Family Service Advocate (FSA) to provide information and resources to enrolled families.
  • Assist in the implementation of the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the St. Anne’s Early Learning Centers, Head Start and CDE.
  • Integrate various HS services into the learning, such as parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, and mental health services.
  • Conducts daily classroom planning, maintains children’s records in conjunction with the FSA and submits accurate monthly paperwork on timely basis.
  • Observes, screens and assess child development level and develops goals that relate to the children’s (individualization).
  • Provide a planned program of activities, which supports and enhances the role of parents as the prime educators of their children with a focus on school readiness goals.
  • Provide a learning environment that reflects the varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds of the children in the program and the larger communities and societies in which they live.
  • Provide a physical environment consistent with state and local licensing requirements and the health and safety needs of the children.
  • Maintain confidentiality as required by St. Anne’s, licensing, HIPAA, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Act as a mandated reporter of child abuse and neglect.
  • Record anecdotal notes and aggregate data using Child Plus data collection system.
  • Participating in gearing the program toward the needs of individual children with focus on their interests, disabilities, strengths, individual style and pace of learning.
  • Guide children in identifying their roles as integral members of a group.
  • Assist the Teacher supervising the classroom.
  • It is essential to attend events that may occur in the evening or on weekends periodically.
  • Travels to all centers in all services areas as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SECONDARY JOB DUTIES:

  • Attend all training as required.
  • Participate in the Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) of the agency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A valid California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher preferred if no child development permit held at the time of hire must obtain a temporary permit before starting in the classroom.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma and completion of training on curriculum, instruction, teaching practices, CLASS, and DRDP must be completed within six months of hire.
  • Associate of Arts (AA) degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 ECE units, if the individual enrolls in one of LACOE’s Career Development Initiative Pathways. Professional Plan developed for completion of Associate Teacher Permit.
  • Ability to provide effective and nurturing teacher-child interactions,

and to plan and implement learning experiences that:

a) Ensure effective curriculum implementation and use of assessment data;

b) Promote children’s progress across the standards described in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five and applicable state earlylearning and development standards, including for children with disabilities anddual language learners, as appropriate.

  • Candidates participating in one of LACOE’s Career Development Initiative Pathways may be hired with the following provisions:

a) 6 ECE units or CDA credential

b) Candidate/staff must be continuously enrolled in a program leading towards the

c) Child Development Associate Teacher Permit per the CCTC matrix

d) Associate Teacher Permit must be acquired within 2 years of employment

e) A Professional Development Plan must be developed within 1 month of hire and

identify clear timeframes for completing the Associate Teacher Permit

f) Staff must commit to two years of employment after the completion of program.

DA/ECEP must keep written record of the commitment

g) Must complete LACOE’s ECE Teacher Preparation Academy in addition to

agency’s onboarding training.

h) Must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of early childhood education or development. Experience working with young children in a classroom setting, preferred.

  • Able to relate well to both children and adults
  • Must have the personality and ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity.
  • Preferred experience or training in infant/toddler development, safety issues; and methods for communicating effectively with infants, toddlers, parents and other staff members.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish/Tagalog/Korean preferred.
  • Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and driving record acceptable to agency’s insurance carrier
