The Human Resources Director (Hotel) is an expert in human resources within the hotel industry and is a strategic partner ensuring the alignment of business unit objectives of Harwood International & Harwood Hospitality Group.

The Human Resources Director (Hotel) must be seen as a trusted advisor to the business who is commercially aware with a strong internal brand. Experienced partners work at a strategic level, possessing business literacy about how to build a strong culture that supports financial and operational objectives. This position will be expected to drive and implement HR initiatives to increase organizational effectiveness, build capability and talent of workforce and team, and lead strategy and tactics to positively impact overall business performance and HR metrics.

Job Functions

  • Demonstrates high level of core HR skill/knowledge and technical knowledge of HR requirements
  • Collaborates with Harwood International’s P&C leadership to understand business strategies and objectives and to establish HR strategies and tactics that will complement and assist in execution of those business objectives
  • Manages daily P&C operation to include, but not limited to, interviewing and hiring, employment and recruiting, training and development,
  • Proactively engages on talent management agenda: Attrition, Retention, Recruiting, Succession planning, Professional development, Performance, and Leadership development
  • Builds strong, credible relationships and is seen as an effective member of the P&C Leadership team and advocate to the P&C Leadership Team for the Hotel employees
  • Partners with Harwood International’s P&C Leadership in the delivery of HR services, consults with the Hotel leaders by providing HR guidance when appropriate utilizing strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Develops and delivers onboarding and facility orientation programs
  • Responsible for Performance Management and Exit processes as well as Roundtable Process management in conjunction with Performance Reviews
  • Works with key leaders of Harwood International and Harwood Hospitality Group on workforce planning, including position control/review, alignment with budget, productivity metrics, resourcing processes, etc.
  • Directs and carries out policies, process and procedures relating to HR activities
  • Assists and trains employees on the interpretation and enforcement of HR and company policies and procedures
  • Handles all employee relation issues within Harwood’s Hotel including investigations and interviews on Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Harassment
  • Manages employee communication and feedback using creative approaches such as: company meetings, suggestion programs, newsletters, employee focus groups, one-on-one meetings, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations

Required Education & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in Human Resources
  • Specific HR experience in the luxury hotel industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred
  • SHRM certification
  • Fluency in Spanish (reading, writing and speaking)
