Job Description

ENSCO is recruiting an entry-level systems engineer to act as a Human System Integrator supporting the Health and Human Performance Directorate at NASA’s Johnson Spaceflight Center. The position will be part of a team of integrators and subject matter experts (SMEs) who work together to ensure NASA human spaceflight programs adequately incorporate and implement NASA HMTA standards from NASA-STD-3001 into vehicle design. Duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Serve as Human Systems Integrator
  • Apply domain expertise in the principles and current state of practice of engineering disciplines and execute systems engineering activities utilizing a broad understanding of the systems engineering discipline and its application across NASA Centers and disciplines within human health and performance.
  • Participate in integrated system development cycles for systems crossing traditional engineering subsystems (e.g., avionics, power, GN&C, etc.) and medical, behavioral health and performance, human factors and task performance, and physiological health and performance disciplines.
  • Enable effective design, test, and verification of systems.
  • Enable effective coordination and integration with exploration mission engineering and technology development design, test, and verification efforts.
  • Work with cross-disciplinary teams
  • Participate in NASA and internal team meetings; develop and deliver presentations as necessary and communicate relevant information as necessary.
  • Coordinate with SMEs and NASA Program Requirement Owners.
  • Review and assess integrated test and analysis activities; formulate, summarize, and represent an HMTA position based on subject matter expertise for Program reviews.
  • Develop position papers, presentations, and/or requirements interpretations

Qualifications Required (Skills)

  • Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, biomedical engineering, industrial engineering, biomedical science, or closely related field
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including delivering presentations and writing reports
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Office's suite of tools, especially Excel

Qualifications Desired

  • Demonstrated experience in human systems integration and/or in collaborating with multi-disciplined teams
  • Experience with human systems requirements/verification in human spaceflight vehicle design and/or with NASA Technical Authority,
  • Experience in NASA spaceflight operations
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., NASA-STD-3001) and human space flight
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers at all levels.
  • Experience in Requirements flow-down and traceability or functional analysis/allocation.
