The Hybrid Rare Disease Clinical Specialist will spend time both working virtually (from a home based office) and in the field visiting Professionals in-person, with flexibility on the type of engagement based on business needs in the field visiting Professionals in-person. Hybrid Rare Disease Clinical Specialist will achieve sales and activity targets on assigned territories across specialist care customers and meet all relevant standards as set by Ashfield and the OM.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop a sound understanding of the relevant disease area to facilitate detailed discussions with medical professionals.
  • Facilitate account management skills (account planning, field resource coordination; close, support customer education needs, reporting).
  • Demonstrate effectiveness working independently and in team environments.
  • Attend regional congress exhibits based on business needs
  • Establish phone presence; commanding & disarming, ability to create rapport, network, build, and maintain productive business relationships.
  • Demonstrate clinical and technical skills.
  • Adhere to new therapeutic areas and channels of business and adapt to organizational change.
  • Leverage and use customer networks, resources and tools via phone/web to expand connectivity, reach and interest across stakeholders.
  • Engage targeted healthcare professionals in in-depth informational/ communications in accordance with policies and procedures set by the client.
  • Verify and complete required data entry including details of the target’s responses and any follow through actions in accordance with policies and procedures set by the client.
  • Profile and manage targeted list of healthcare professionals
  • Maintain call productivity and metrics that are required by Ashfield and the client.
  • Listen and respond appropriately to customer needs and questions, thereby ensuring acceptance of, or agreement with a call objective.
  • Effectively and timely communicate with the Manager on project’s progress.
  • Create and maintain a positive impression with the Customer and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Execute Customer strategies in compliance with Federal Healthcare Program requirements, FDA’s promotional regulations, and Customer’s policy.
  • Must safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality by following the guidelines set forth in the Privacy and Security Rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

What do you need for this position?

  • COVID-19 Vaccination required. Must be able to provide proof of vaccination upon offer acceptance
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 3+ years of specialty pharmaceutical sales experience - oncology/rare disease preferred
  • Excellent communication skills in-person and virtually (email and Zoom)
  • Proven time-management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Strong work ethic and drive to succeed in all situations
  • Selling skills - Ability to profitably build new business and expand customer relationships
  • Clinical Acumen - Possesses clinical knowledge and insights that allow for strong decision making
  • Business Acumen - Understands industry trends, market access and market dynamics to drive strategy
  • Communications and Teamwork - Communicates accurately, concisely and compellingly to a variety of audiences and adapts communication style as needed; ability to forge and maintain effective relationships with internal employees and external customers
  • Resource Utilization - Identifies available resources and solves problems by utilizing best available information and support resources
  • Positive attitude and growth mindset
  • A sense of resourcefulness and ability to overcome challenges/obstacles when working with a new target list
  • Ability/willingness to travel and visit high-value targets based on business needs. Local and overnight travel is required.
  • Based on business need at any given time travel could be up to 25% in a given month
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
