We are a global leader in opening access solutions. Our Division focuses on the manufacturing of steel doors and frames within the commercial market. Catering to such industries as hospitality, healthcare, airports, stadiums, universities and retail industries.
This is an on-site role based out of one of our Regional Manufacturing Centers located in either:
- Kent, Washington
- Ontario, California
What would you do as our Industrial Engineer?
Study current processes and collaborate with on-site teams to improve current processes, increase productivity, reduce waste, and optimize investment while employing Lean concepts to achieve organizational business goals, ensure safety and meet objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a background in industrial engineering, manufacturing operations and business acumen.
WHAT YOU WOULD DO:
- Troubleshoot, research, evaluate and recommend strategic plans, cost-saving initiatives, new processes and system improvements for various manufacturing and distribution sites
- Interact cross functionally to gather and analyze information needed to recommend and help resolve complex issues and problems
- Continually improve processes and cost efficiencies for labor and material costs
- Oversee the design, concept and purchasing of new machinery, equipment and tooling areas
- Recommend design changes in existing product lines to promote cost savings and efficiencies
- Improve plant layouts to maximize capacity and output
- Design, develop and champion for manufacturing to be done in the most economical way with the least capital expenditure
- Assist with the preparation of capital budgets
- Actively participate in providing a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees’ Compliance with federal, state, local and corporate governance policies, regulations and laws, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct
- Special projects as assigned
The Skills and Experience you need:
- Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Degree required
- Minimum of three years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Champion of Lean principles (Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen, etc). Black Belt certification, a plus
- Ability to travel 40-50% of the time
- Familiar with quality systems, packaging, distribution, manufacturing, welding, supply chain, tooling and machinery design.
- Previous experience in designing manufacturing/warehouse solutions
- Comfortable handling multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
- Ability to hold others accountable to ensure project deliverables
- Ability to communicate effectively via correspondence and presentations
