Ink Technician Job at Wilson-Hurd a division of Nelson-Miller
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / FUNCTIONS:
- Mixing and preparation of inks for production (two shifts).
- Accurate documentation of formula files.
- Examine job orders to determine quantities, stock specification, colors or special printing instructions.
- Verify the substrate and ink meet the specifications for a given job.
- Color matching.
- Monitor inventory levels on a regular basis, ordering or requesting additional supplies, as necessary.
- R & D – Developing new ink applications.
- Perform other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE
- 2 – 3 years of formulating inks for the printing industry on plastics, aluminum or rigid substrates preferred.
- Working with back lit color formulations.
- Familiarity in using different types of color measurement tools.
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school degree, GED, or equivalent.
- Additional Graphic Arts education a plus.
- Color matching accuracy.
- Numerical accuracy.
- Organizational skills a must.
- Visual color discrimination.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Mathematical skills a must, able to equate decimals and percentages.
- Be able to use a ruler and caliper.
- Analytical and problem solving.
- No color deficiencies.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- An understanding of various industry color measurement instruments and ink rheology’s.
- Superb organization and prioritization.
- Creative thinker – ability to develop, design, or create new applications, ideas relationships, systems or products, including artistic contributions.
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical information and procedures.
- Team player – work with supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates in person, over the phone or via email.
WORK CONTEXT
- Exposure to contaminants or hazardous conditions with inks and chemicals.
- Personal Protective Equipment includes safety glasses, gloves and lab jackets.
- Majority of position is standing.
- Time Pressure.
- Importance of being exact or accurate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
