$4500.00 Sign On/Stay On Bonus- Must have Hazmat endorsement or able to obtain within 60 days of hire.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
Performs customer service/sales duties for retail store to business and industrial customers and performs customer service/delivery duties for retail store and plants, to business and industrial customers while maintaining compliance with all regulatory agencies and requirements including, but not limited to OSHA, FDA, DOT, ISO and Airgas regulations, policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Safety and Regulatory Compliance

  • Demonstrates and aligns with Airgas Safety Pledge and 12 Life Saving Rules.
  • Exemplifies, promotes and develops safe work behaviors.
  • Ensures all applicable regulatory (OSHA, FDA, DOT, EPA) requirements are met and applicable training and recordkeeping is performed to meet departmental and location deadlines.
  • Maintains compliance with all Specialty, Medical and Food Gas Standard Operating Procedures, SMS and ISO requirements and any and all associated paperwork.

Essential Functions of Inside Sales:

  • Delivers CS2 behaviors to all internal/external customers.
  • Sells industrial, medical and specialty gases, welding supplies and related equipment to customers.
  • Solicits sales with existing and potential customers and handles all associated paperwork to document those sales, quotes or other information which may need recording for future reference.
  • Advises customers on equipment and materials needed and procedures to follow to complete the tasks they wish to perform.
  • Demonstrates use of equipment.
  • Arranges for delivery of cylinders and hard-goods and maintains showroom displays.
  • Assists customers with merchandise and loading and unloading cylinders.
  • Communicate in person, email and/or on the telephone with customers, providing information such as cost, ordering and delivery times.
  • Monitor and maintain customer’s inventory needs.
  • Check accounts receivable status of accounts; talk with the salesman or credit department about past-due accounts and contact customers regarding payment as well as collect money as required.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed; including coding, costing and pricing.
  • Maintains proper inventory levels with product shortages or outages.
  • Ensures all administrative, SMS, ISO and accounting related procedures are strictly adhered to and completed.
  • When needed, will be responsible for performing back-up duties per the branch daily checklist.

Essential Functions of the Back-up Driver:

  • Drives up to a 20-ton truck loaded with compressed gas cylinders, liquid cylinders and hard-goods to deliver to customers on a scheduled route.
  • Maintains load manifests and all other vehicle documents, ensuring they are properly completed and balanced with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries.
  • Loads/unloads truck and sets up cylinders for customer use.
  • Picks up empty cylinders from customer sites and returns empty cylinders to the branch.
  • Unloads empty cylinders at the branch and stages in the appropriate area
  • Records deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest and obtains signatures from customers for receipt purposes.
  • Maintains vehicle appearance (both inside and outside) in a professional manner.
  • Maintains a neat, clean and professional personal appearance in compliance with Airgas standards.
  • Identify and monitor customers’ needs and work with them to maintain proper hard-good and cylinder levels to minimize or eliminate emergency deliveries.
  • Ensures all required paperwork is accurately completed.
  • Maintain appropriate drivers’ license and endorsements.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May operate forklift and other equipment as required.
  • Assist with inventory, housekeeping, showroom displays, and demonstrations as required.
  • Perform as backup driver when needed.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Has never been disqualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle according to the provisions of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, §391.15 and §383.51 within the last seven years (i.e., suspension shall not have been active within the last 7-years.).
  • No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years.
  • No more than two (2) moving violations in the last 3-years or one (1)moving violation in a commercial motor vehicle in the last 3-years.
  • No reckless driving in a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No hit-and-run convictions.
  • Driver applicants that can meet all the qualifications required to drive a specific type of company vehicle and have driven a commercial motor vehicle in the military can be given credit for that experience by providing a military issued document that confirms their experience.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Customer Service or Sales experience preferred.
  • Welding Certificate from an accredited technical school, college/university, or equivalent combination of education and experience a plus.
  • Must have 12 months’ experience with Straight Truck or Bulk Straight Truck, or Driving School Certificate
  • Class A or B CDL with HazMat endorsement with airbrakes
  • Industry and related product knowledge, as well as experience with properly handling compressed gases, preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Experience with SAP and/or a production planning module preferred.
  • Experience with onboarding computers a plus.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimal (0 – 10%)

COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and safety data sheets using the English language.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • CDL Class A or B with airbrakes; HazMat endorsement required (or able to obtain within 60 days of hire).
