Team Profile: This is an opportunity to be part of an Intelligence and Crisis Response team who manage major and severe business-impacting events and incidents, predominantly involving varying levels of business disruption, by coordinating real-time service restoration and actively managing risk. As a member of our pro-active, pragmatic, and energetic team, you will be in the unique position to interact with people and teams globally, across all levels of the Firm, and influence decisions that have a direct impact on operational stability.
Role Profile: As an Intelligence and Crisis Response Associate, you will be responsible for conducting daily monitoring of the threat landscape in order to identify and provide early warning of emerging threats and events that may impact the Firm and the financial sector. You will be responsible for assessing intelligence and producing reports regularly and proactively for potential events which may require the engagement of stakeholders. You will partner with the wider team to manage incident response, triage calls, and assess business impact, ensuring that all participating teams are focused on impact remediation and providing timely incident communications to relevant stakeholders.
The position requires a dynamic and adaptable approach, during high-pressure situations, organizational and situational awareness, sound judgement, emotional intelligence, and strong analytical ability. Following significant events, team members will undertake after-action discussions, and follow up with the necessary stakeholders to review lessons learned and drive change that will bring additional stability to the Firm.
The role does require periodic on call coverage during bank holidays and weekends on a rotational basis, typically once every 8-10 weeks, depending on team staffing
The team has access to a wide range of social media monitoring tools, open-source, industry, and commercial intelligence feeds which are leveraged to generate relevant alerts for further triage, assessment, and escalation.

Physical & Geopolitical
    Protests or demonstrations impacting Firm locations
    Civil unrest in countries/locations with a Firm presence
    Terrorist (or other violent) incidents impacting Firm locations
    Significant geopolitical events that may impact the Firm or the financial sector
    Significant weather events where Morgan Stanley offices are located
    Novel or significant updates relating to pandemics or infectious diseases spreading in locations where Morgan Stanley operates or has a presence
Technology
    Technology incidents impacting the financial sector or other critical infrastructure entities
    Major technology outages impacting payment infrastructure or stock exchanges

Fusion Response Profile:
Fusion Response leads rapid and comprehensive Response and Recovery operations in order to minimize impact from a broad range of potentially business disrupting, to significantly impacting, threats and incidents, from cyber and fraud to technology incidents, weather events, terror attacks, geopolitical unrest & pandemics, collaborating with partner organizations to Understand, Prepare, and Learn from these events.
Fusion Response leads centers in New York, Alpharetta, London, Glasgow, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore. Fusion's 24/7 proactive follow-the-sun model is the cornerstone of the Firm's operational resilience capability.

QUALIFICATIONS

What's expected of the candidate:
    Ability to thrive and maintain calm in a variety of high-stress, zero-tolerance environments
    Able to rapidly absorb and understand complex technical situations under pressure
    Troubleshooting, with a drive towards incident resolution
    Demonstrated ability to communicate complex and technical ideas effectively, succinctly, and professionally, in written or spoken formats to non-technical and senior audiences
    Ability to develop close relationships with key stakeholders
    A broad understanding of the technology and infrastructure used in a large institutional environment, including building mechanical and engineering infrastructure
    Enthusiasm to learn new technologies and step outside of your comfort zone
    Familiarity with geopolitical, country risk, or physical security analysis
    General knowledge of prominent threat landscape trends and geopolitical dynamics and the risks to the financial sector, including to technologies
    Experience with Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) products and sources, and social media monitoring tools and methodology
    An understanding of rapid notifications systems is a plus
    International experience or experience working in a global team or as part of a follow-the-sun operational model is a plus
    Fluency in another language and/or relevant familiarity with foreign cultures is a plus

Experience & Skills Required
    2+ years of professional analytical experience, preferably within an intelligence or crisis management function in the financial, technology, or related sector, federal government, or military organization
    Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience in an intelligence role in law enforcement or military fields)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
