The Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) offers professional translation services to assist with clear and effective communication for individuals, government agencies, and corporations. We work with local translators and offer notarized translations at affordable and competitive rates.
We are looking for Translators and Interpreters in the following languages:
- Ukrainian
- Tigrinya
- Amharic
- Spanish
- Arabic
- Swahili
- Somali
- Vietnamese
- Haitian Creole
- French
- Greek
- Russian
- American Sign Language (ASL)
Job Requirements:
- Native, or near-native, fluency in requested language and English ability to explain cultural concepts to avoid miscommunication, and to act as a cultural broker to Translate/Draft/Edit/Proofread all types of written documents.
- Render in person/videocall/phone interpretation using correct concepts and meanings upholding correct rules of grammar, clarity, and tone, from one language into another, staying detached from the conversation, and always remaining neutral and objective.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools/Internet and ensure access to the Internet for work related to electronic communication
- Understand terminology in the following realms but not limited: Immigration, Medical, Psychology, Social Work, etc.
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy
- Ability to offer in person interpretations in Bridgeport, CT.
- Bachelor's degree (Preferred)
This is a position as an independent contractor.
Contract Pay: $15 per page (Translation) or $30 per hour (In Person Interpreter)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $30.00 per hour
