Intervention Teacher

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Intervention Teacher is directly responsible for all matters pertaining to the operation of the Amygdala Reset Room and attendance plans. The Intervention Teacher will serve as a student support advocate to focus on discipline and attendance. The Intervention Teacher will ensure that students learn and develop cognitive, emotional, social and communicative skills. Additionally, provide a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and academic achievement beyond the classroom.

Additional Information: This position also comes with a $2000 Sign-On Bonus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred LICENSE: Must hold a valid Indiana State Teacher's License in Elementary Education (K-6). Must be deemed Highly Qualified in accordance with the Indiana Department of Education EXPERIENCE: Required experience includes: 1) Must have excellent organization and communication skills while being flexible; 2) Possess no excuses philosophy; 3) Good management skills; 4) Must be able to adapt material; 5) Work cooperatively and effectively with other professional staff; 6) Must have a working knowledge of the five (5) areas of reading, balanced literacy, state standards, general education curriculum, and IPS curriculum/instruction framework.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIEs:

Job Type Description

  • Assists and supports the Head of School and to create the school wide discipline and attendance guidelines.
  • Create data reports weekly/daily to analyze discipline and attendance data to reflect on current practices and make the necessary adjustments to increase attendance and decrease acts of misconduct.
  • Schedule parent and student meetings to discuss concerns, consequences and expectations.
  • Write discipline and/or attendance contracts (due process honored).
  • Respond to discipline referrals and recommend the next steps.
  • Organize celebratory events to celebrate culture and climate achievement.
  • Monitor daily operations to ensure a safe environment.
  • Organize and perform all duties to assure the efficient operation of the ARC room.
  • Work closely with the School Leadership team to oversee student attendance.
  • Provide on-going analysis of student performance data related to ARC to the Head of School.
  • Maintain up-to-date files and assist with timely follow-up to discipline referrals.
  • Maintain a cordial, respectful and collaborative relationship with all administrators, teachers, and parents.
  • Assist with all other duties as assigned by school leadership, or his/her designee.
