Farmers Home Furniture is seeking an organized, self-starter to join our merchandising department located at our home office in Dublin, Georgia. Essential job functions:

  • Performs and oversees purchasing functions for the Merchandising Department to include availability of merchandise; reconciles vendor pricing and term differences.
  • Monitors and ensures accurate and balanced inventory levels in the Distribution Centers; monitors and reviews weeks of supply, OTB and Buyers Tool Box.
  • Sets up plans by Distribution Center for groups of sku or families in Buyers Toolbox based off of promotion, historical sales and trends.
  • Processes new product approval sheets and modeling of New Groups and sets up in Buyers Toolbox. Monitors store inventory at the sku level and notifies management of any issues.
  • Keeps up with upcoming advertising, the buyers projected sales, new product rollout and any lineup changes; adjusts sales projections in Buyers Toolbox as needed.
  • Recommends clearance pricing of phased out goods and timing based off company inventory levels and weeks of supply. Prepares and is responsible for store notification concerning inventory such as clearance tags or inventory supply issues.
  • Deals with special inventory issues; initiates Distribution Center transfers to balance the company or out of stock situations; recommends and prepares approvals for domestic warehouse – bridge pricing for product needs.
  • Works with Buyer to stay up-to-date on the development of lineup and product presentations for review with management.
  • Evaluates inventory levels, looks for trends in style and category, and final sales; adjusts purchase orders as trends and opportunities dictate.
  • Analyzes and projects forecast volumes based on various buyer reports such as inventory status, high-low report, merchandise statistics, inventory flow report, etc.; compiles and maintains merchandise statistics for purchasing and projections.
  • Pre-distributes new merchandise to stores.
  • Assists/communicates with vendors, merchandise help desk, merchandise assistant and store employees regarding special orders and inventory supply related issues.
  • Keeps up to date on Advertising and Marketing, advertising layouts and proofs; coordinates point of purchase materials with buyer as needed.
  • Communicates with Store Operations personnel, management, and vendors about product delays, discontinued merchandise and new product arrivals.
  • Visits, as needed, Company store locations as well as competitors to review merchandise and merchandise presentation; works with buyer to coordinate setup of product for store display.
  • Maintains an awareness of new products, trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature and trade publications; attends departmental meetings, trade shows, markets, vendor conferences as needed.
