THE POSITION

Investment Analytics Analyst

Position Summary

The Investment Analytics Analyst will have direct exposure to NLG Capital's investment process by supporting senior members of the Office of the CIO Team. In doing so, they will work on projects related to asset allocation, risk management, performance measurement, competitive intelligence, and other investment related projects. The high impact role will offer exposure to key areas of the National Life investment process while ensuring that we are able to objectively frame our investment portfolio positioning and risk. This role provides the necessary information that is required to improve our investment decisions and to ensure that our decisions are aligned with the strategic objectives and constraints facing National Life Group.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Office of the CIO in executing on NLG Capital’s investment strategies
  • Create and improve analytical tools and monitors that support our investment process through improved understanding and visualizing complex data sets
  • Create monitors that bring transparency and objectivity of information to our investment process
  • Influence key decision makers through recurring and ad hoc analysis
  • Integrate insights into practical workflows utilizing Excel, Tableau / Microsoft BI, and email-based reporting
  • Learn investment strategy workflows and apply technical skills to improve and automate processes
  • Improve team efficiency by leveraging technology to solve our most challenging problems

THE PERSON

Pivotal Experience & Expertise

  • Strong understanding of financial markets, with at least three years of investment experience or an advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Data Science or Computer Science or combination thereof
  • Asset management experience within the insurance industry preferred
  • Experience in financial analysis and/or development and/or business analytics related roles
  • Experience using Excel, Microsoft BI, Tableau, and other data visualization tools
  • SQL and Python considered helpful
  • Experience with code development best practices a plus
  • Intense intellectual curiosity with the desire to seek new challenges while continuously learning
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to connect to form meaningful working partnerships

Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.
