Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, the IT Support Specialist will gain exposure to all functions performed by the Information Technology Department including: hardware, software, network, and telecom troubleshooting. The IT Support Specialist will assist by supporting day to day operations via phone, e-mail, and helpdesk tickets. The IT Support Specialist will be required at times to be on-call to provide after-hours support. The IT Support Specialist at times, will be required to travel to remote company locations to support local operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Answers calls from team members with regard to questions and/or issues they experience with their computer system.
  • Setting up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices according to different department specifications.
  • Checking computer hardware (HDD, keyboards, scanners, etc.) to ensure functionality.
  • Installing and configuring appropriate software and functions according to specifications for many different departments and locations.
  • Monitoring and diagnosing VOIP phones and functions.
  • Provide troubleshooting in WAN/LAN issues.
  • Troubleshoot any network switches, network cabling, and any network wiring issues.
  • Execute monthly testing of backup power sources (generators).
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
  • Maintain record/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule.
  • Monitor and respond to e-mails from team members and technology vendors.
  • Ensure the computer hardware and software operates as efficiently as possible to prevent the interruption of business at all locations.
  • Repair and cleaning of computer equipment as needed.
  • Maintain excellent customer service in all customer or team member interactions.
  • Maintain good relationships with all team members and vendors.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed (Per On-Call Schedule).

Other Job Functions:

  • Always keep the equipment area clean and well-organized.
  • Additional projects as assigned.
  • Use of Powered Equipment: Fork Lift, Power Tools, Backup Generator, etc. (training provided).

Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and communication skills; is capable of explaining procedures writing, verbally, and over the phone
  • Problem solving skills, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to think outside the box, perform research, and operate independently or in a group setting.
  • Basic technical and computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, networking, telecom, and software preferred.
