JOB OVERVIEW PART-TIME (28 HOURS MAXIMUM PER WEEK)
A Jail Interviewer performs regular jail visits either in person or via video communication to appointed clients currently in detention at the local jail. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Schedule confidential interviews with current inmates who have been appointed a Public Defender for in-person contact or through video visitation.
• Support Assistant Public Defenders in obtaining required forms as well as delivering documents to the jail for the clients review or signature(s) as necessary.
• Provide and distribute all required legal forms or documents to jail.
• Answer time-sensitive inmate jail emails through the detention center’s email system. Forward inmate inbox jail emails directly to the client's Assistant Public Defender.
• Answer daily jail inmate calls during scheduled call time.
• Inform other Fifth Circuit Public Defenders or other Florida Judicial Circuit Public Defenders, Private Attorneys when inmates are incarcerated in jail with an out of county warrant.
• Maintain digital case files through our case management system.
• General office work as designated by the supervisor.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Graduation from high school and one year of clerical and typing experience preferred
• An equivalency diploma issued by a state department of education or by the United States Armed Forces Institute may be substituted for high school graduation.
