REPORTS TO: Workforce Programs Manager
CLASSIFICATION: 1 (FTE), NON-EXEMPT,FULL-TIME,40 HOURS PER WEEK,8:00AM-5:00PM MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, with some evenings and weekends. ELIGIBLE FOR TELECOMMUTING. LOCAL TRAVEL REQUIRED
SALARY: $25.00 to 31.00 PER HOUR (COMMENSURATE WITH EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)

COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS: All employees must have completed a COVID-19 vaccine series that has been authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or by the World Health Organization (WHO) before beginning work.

The Urban League?s Education and Workforce Development team provides culturally specific career and employment coaching and mentorship to job seekers of all ages entering, re-entering, and growing in the workforce. The Business Services Specialist will work as a member of the Urban League Career Connections team to develop employment partnerships that lead to living-wage employment opportunities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Initiates and maintains contacts with business and industry representatives to set up recruitment profiles and provide orientations; schedules and visits potential and existing employers to identify and develop positions for Urban League participants.
? Support Career Coaches in developing unsubsidized employment opportunities for participants.
? Provide participant screening prior to job referral to ensure a good fit based on their qualifications and barriers.
? Act as a liaison between employers and career coaches
? Assist employers and Urban League program participants with ongoing training needs; address concerns of employers; provide effective follow-up to placement. Work with employers to resolve ongoing issues.
? Stay abreast of local business and industry development trends. Target growing industries that truly match participants? employment opportunities.
? Support Urban League Workforce Program Supervisor in daily project operation, outcomes achievement, and developing reports to project leadership team.
? Present employment and volunteer opportunities at regular staff meetings to ensure employment resource sharing, participants? referrals to employment opportunities, coordination with local businesses, and partnering agencies.
? Encourage open communication and team approach to project activities with a customer service approach.
? Organize employers? presentations and hiring events for project participants.
? Prepare written and verbal presentations to individuals and groups; speak to trade organizations, local and state employer groups, training providers, community organizations, etc. to provide public awareness about the Urban League of Portland Workforce Department.
? Maintain up-to-date listings of work opportunities and identify areas for further development based on preferences and profiles of job seekers.
? Track the work performance, placement satisfaction, and training progress of participants through informal check-ins and regularly scheduled evaluations.
? Represent Urban League Career Connections team at meetings WorkSource centers, and other agencies upon Supervisors request.
? Share and coordinate employment and stabilization barrier removal opportunities and resources with the Urban League Career Connections team.
? Effectively utilize Urban League Workforce partners? leveraged resources to remove participants? barriers to employment opportunities and increase their chances to become self-sufficient.
? Bring understanding and share resources from the home agency and targeted community to ensure effective wrap-around service options for all participants.
? Participate in training and meetings as required to ensure project outcomes achievement.
? Submit weekly and monthly reports on a strict timeline.
? When necessary, cover the workload of colleagues in their absence.
? Contribute to the overall agency efforts by completing other duties as assigned
