The Kennemer Facility is a contract provider of services for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. We focus on aiding recovering residents to become economically and personally adjusted to employment of their choice and to a life free of substance abuse.

The Specialized Treatment for Optimized Programming (STOP) at the Ken Kennemer Center is a long term (90-180 day), intensive inpatient, residential drug treatment program instituted through California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The focus is to assist male parolees on active supervision, whose lives have become negatively impacted by a cycle of (AOD) alcohol and/or drug-related addictions as well as assessing the criminal history of recidivism through cognitive behavioral therapy and evidence-based counseling & treatment. The goals, objectives, and action steps in treatment are to provide comprehensive, pervasive, and personalized behavioral healthcare, that leads residents to a life free of substance abuse, while assisting each resident in breaking the cycle of institutional recidivism in their personal lives. JOB SUMMARY

The Job Developer reports to the Program Director and takes direction from the Casework Supervisor, if applicable. The Job Developer is responsible in assisting clients in making vocational decisions and develops job opportunities for them.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and complete Individual Employment Plan for each client.
  • Develop and submit Individual Employment Reports detailing each working STOP participant’s job title, job description, scheduled shift, and hours worked.
  • Ensure all clients have completed a resume and a copy is placed in their file.
  • Complete case notes, treatment plans, and group notes within the Automated Reentry Management System (ARMS) or other electronic database as assigned.
  • Assist client with obtaining necessary documents to legally gain employment in the state of California (e.g., California ID, Social Security Card, etc.).
  • Conduct job search, and retention workshops for clients including but not limited to: interviewing techniques, appropriate disclosure of past convictions and/or parole status to potential employers, resume writing, personal grooming, eye contact and body language; developing good work habits; establishing short- and long-term goals.
  • Assist clients in college, adult school, and/or vocational training enrollment.
  • Prepare and update a monthly roster of those employers willing to hire participants and provide the roster to the Employment Development Liaison and or CDCR upon request.
  • Collect and submit data monthly pertaining to all employment efforts made for STOP participants.
  • Identify the benefits of completing the criminal record expungement process to all clients. Provide information, or a referral, on how to expunge a criminal record, and obtain a Certificate of Rehabilitation.
  • Become familiar with and visit local job agencies (i.e., employment development agencies, private employment agencies, and city, county, and state employment agencies).
  • Make in-person and telephone contacts with community employers in assisting parolees with job search.
  • Inform prospective employers of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
  • Notify all essential parties involved in client’s case plan of the client's training needs as determined by the interview.
  • Attend all case conferences and frequently discuss with all involved, including Parole Agent, the client's progress in the areas of training and employment potential and progress.
  • Conduct group facilitation as assigned.
  • Refer to the Program Director for any issues that cannot be resolved at the Job Developer's level. Utilize professional conduct as a member of the casework team.
  • Will drive on agency business.
  • Will think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  • Comply with all Turning Point Safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to: workplace safety, reporting work related injuries, Infection Control and preventing potential safety risks for staff, clients and others.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at Turning Point. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees also are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours are disruptive and must be avoided.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • At minimum must possess a high school diploma. An AA or BA Degree is preferred.
  • At minimum must possess two (2) years’ experience a Job Developer preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, COVID test and TB test.
  • COVID19 vaccination required prior to employment.
  • Current certified training in emergency first aid procedures and CPR preferred.
  • Must maintain good relationships with current, future and past employees, co-workers, vendors, third party administrators, and others with whom the Agency is transacting business, and relate to them in a professional manner.
