Benefits to you
  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $17.28 - $28.13.

Position Highlights
The
Wasco County Circuit Court
is hiring a Small Claims/Traffic/Cashier Clerk (Judicial Services Specialist 2) to provide clerical processing, courtroom coordination, cash handling, electronic case management and excellent customer service at all times.
Customer service regarding the status of small claims, traffic, violation cases, and court calendars will be a large part of your work. This will include coordinating case information with judges, litigants, attorneys, judicial staff, agencies, and the public. You will be the first interaction the public will have when they visit our court.
You will use our electronic case management system to perform much of your work, including entering data, reviewing reports related to court cases, retrieving case information, and accepting and reviewing documents filed with the court. You will also determine if an offender is eligible for a reduction in fines or diversionary programs such as traffic school and safety seat belt class within the established guidelines of the 7th Judicial District Violations Bureau.
You will open and close as part of court cashier and general accounting records management duties. As such, you will handle cash, reconcile cash drawers, and verify case financial information for accuracy and timeliness. You will also accept and receipt payments received in the mail, by phone, and over the counter for fines, bail, security, and filing fees for all case types.
Previous experience in a court or legal environment is not required. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have at least one (1) year of responsible, clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
AND
Possession of a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent life or work experience.

Working Conditions
  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule currently is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.
  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Infrequent travel to neighboring counties.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may at times be confused, frustrated, or experiencing trauma.
  • Regular use of the following office equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
  • Frequent long periods of sitting or standing at a computer or customer service counter.

Criminal Background Check
You will be subject to a criminal background check if you are a finalist. Adverse results are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may result in disqualification if the circumstances are directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.

United States Employment Eligibility
OJD does not offer visa sponsorships. Within three days of hire, you will be required to complete the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's
