Benefits to you
  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $19.04 - $31.02.

Position Highlights
We are hiring a Civil/Family Clerk (Judicial Support Specialist 3) at the
Jackson County Circuit Court
in Medford, Oregon.
Much of your day is spent docketing and processing documents and case files for all civil and family cases as you review and determine priorities. You will assist in the preparation of abuse prevention petitions/orders as well as assist judges and courtroom clerks with protective order documents, scheduling cases for motion and show cause hearings, certifying documents, and issuing writs tracking cases. You will use a computer for your work, entering and retrieving information from our electronic case management system.
You will assist customers via phone, email, or in person regarding court procedures and policies. Specifically, you will assist litigants, attorneys, judges, staff, court partners, and the public in using court services and inform them of the court calendar or case status. You will also accept and scan court filings and other documents after reviewing them for accuracy and completeness. You will manage a cash drawer and accept payments and provide receipts for customers. Confidentiality and tact in dealing with parties to court cases will be necessary.
Lastly, you will have the opportunity to participate in the development and maintenance of local work processes and collaborate in statewide, OJD-wide, or local committee meetings, including making recommendations regarding future improvements in processes or procedures.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidates must have at least two (2) years of responsible, clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
AND
Possess a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent life or work experience.

Working Conditions
  • This is a full-time position and the work schedule is typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.
  • Occasional before or after-hours work may be required.
  • Daily contact with public regarding court processes including working with parties involved in civil, family, and criminal court cases.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with angry, frustrated people or those who may be experiencing trauma.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Daily work with confidential documents and information.
  • Long periods of sitting are required while performing daily data entry input.
  • The qualified candidate must start the process of CJIS clearance within the first week of hire.

Criminal Background Check
You will be subject to a criminal background check if you are a finalist. Adverse results are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may result in disqualification if the circumstances are directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.

OJD does not offer visa sponsorships. Within three days of hire, you will be required to complete the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's
