Position Overview


To advise, educate, consult, and support qualified potential students in achieving their educational goals by enrolling in one of NewSchool of Architecture & Design’s creative programs. To support the applicant admissions process in an effective and efficient manner with high attention to detail and strict adherence to agreed timescales, procedures and processes. Effectively assist applicants and customers, both internal and external, of NewSchool with excellence in customer service and a dedicated commitment to student success. Demonstrates knowledge of all enrollment and admissions processes regardless of applicant’s selected program.


Responsibilities


The Enrollment Advisor reports to the assigned Associate Director of Enrollment with larger oversight from the Director of Enrollment. The Enrollment Advisor is expected to work flexibly across a range of operational support teams at NewSchool to ensure student success.


Location


This position is based at NewSchool’s campus in Downtown San Diego, California.


Key Accountabilities and Duties

  • Contribute each term to new student enrollments by assessing potential applicants and determining their eligibility to apply and enroll in various academic programs.
  • Follow-up with potential student inquiries via phone, email, text, and in person.
  • Provide a positive and superior experience to prospective and new students inquiring about NewSchool, its academic programs, admissions requirements, policies, payment options, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency of job duties and processes within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Take ownership of each application with end goal of assisting in successful student matriculation.
  • Build rapport and guide students interested in obtaining a degree through the enrollment process.
  • Leverage available tools that move applicants through the conversion process, including scholarships, student ambassador connections, academic connections, open houses, testimonials, campus visits, and tools provided.
  • Work effectively in a team environment in a collaborative manner to deliver strong results.
  • Effectively uses work time to produce outstanding results in outreach to prospectives, completing applications for submissions to Admissions by chasing for outstanding documents, managing records in our CRM, participating in new student review, tasks, and managing lead flow accordingly.
  • Create consistent and observable documentation in Salesforce (CRM) to track the status and progress towards the enrollment of assigned students.
  • Prepare and maintain progress, conversion, and related reports on a weekly basis.
  • Consistently seek opportunities to drive student growth by referrals.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate knowledge of current programs, processes, and policies at NewSchool.
  • Commitment to excellence in contributing to a positive workplace and goal attainment.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant student immigration legislation-processes for student visa applications are fully understood and utilized, with responsibility for ensuring the quality of information input on the system.
  • Understand the higher education landscape and be able to compare and contrast NewSchool to competitor institutions.
  • Utilize professional communication skills on a daily basis while conversing with students in person, on the phone and when corresponding by email and text.
  • Assist when called on with training and development of new NewSchool staff members.

Skills


  • Able to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and build relationships with peers, managers, and NewSchool stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of CRM software, Salesforce, preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must possess confident telephone presence.
  • The ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to accept direction, feedback, praise, and constructive criticism.
  • Ability to stay organized, prioritize, and goal oriented while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must possess effective time management skills, sense of urgency, and ability to plan and prioritize daily activities.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree or substitution of related work experience on year for year basis of degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in enrollment, admissions, recruitment, sales, customer service, account management or relationship management is required.
  • Higher Education experience preferred.


Working Conditions
  • Normal office conditions. Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves the operation of computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as necessary.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day. May require travel to other locations occasionally


Working Hours:


This is a full time, hourly role of 40 hours per week. The regular hours may include variable hours to reach prospective students around the world. One to two Saturday’s a month may be included for NewSchool events such as Open House. Hours are subject to change
