Description:Golden Queen Mining Company, LLC (the “Company”) operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore.
The Company is seeking an Assay Laboratory I for its Soledad Mountain Project (the “Project”) in Mojave. The Assay Laboratory I will initially be part of the commissioning team and then perform the day to day sample prep laboratory functions during operations. This is an entry level position and reports to the Assay Laboratory Supervisor. This is a safety sensitive position.
Major Responsibilities

• Perform the day to day operations of activities in the sample prep laboratory, including sample receiving, drying of samples, splitting samples, pulverizing samples and weighing samples;
• Perform size fraction analysis;
• Perform daily work assignments to support testing of samples from mining, crushing and screening and processing;
• Assists in quality assurance and quality control to ensure reliable, consistent and reproducible results from the sample prep lab;
• Perform minor equipment repairs as needed;
• Assists in Fire Assay when needed;
• Assists with training of new Assay Laboratory Technicians;
• Participate in assay laboratory safety meetings; and
• Offer ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement of assay laboratory operations

Requirements:

• Experience in an Assay Laboratory preferred;
• Must be able to recognize and correct when quality control is out of range;
• Experience with operation and maintenance of a range of laboratory equipment preferred;
• Good computer skills preferred;
• Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi task;
• Must have basic math skills to perform routine calculations;
• Effective communication skills, as well as solid interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
• High work standards and a professional presence and
• Must be results-oriented and a solid team member with the ability to drive projects forward with minimal supervision;
• Driver’s license required
• High school diploma or GED

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.60 - $35.16 per hour
