Main Responsibilities

The Laborer is tasked with performing all necessary daily duties to keep our blacktop plants producing for our customers/crushing systems running. Laborers are required to constantly tour, observe, and maintain all working parts of the facilities. The Laborer plays a crucial role in maximizing plant uptime and minimizing downtime through constant, thorough, and effective routine maintenance procedures set forth by Plant Superintendents and Plant Operators.

• Applies the safety guidelines including wearing the proper Personal Protective Equipment.
• Prepares for their work ability to analyze information concerning the day's work.
• Makes any necessary repairs and/or adjustments to equipment and vehicles before operating them.
• Carries out the work, operating the vehicles accordingly while ensuring safety.
• Carries out work based on directives from their managers and/or supervisors.
• Maintains machinery carries out standard upkeep (minor repairs) in observance of the company’s environmental guidelines and the regulations, notifies their manager in the event of anomalies.

Education

• Minimum high school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license

Skills

• Previous field experience in asphalt manufacturing, concrete manufacturing, or construction is preferred
• Possess knowledge and abilities to perform general repairs on plant equipment using standard industrial tools and understanding of mechanical systems
• Able to operate mobile equipment associated with plant operations including: skid steer, front end loader, dump truck, manlift
• Good communication skills and ability to take direction for work to perform and proven ability to work with others as a team
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on assigned tasks with minimal supervision
• Responsible, reliable and dependable

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, carry, and lift 75 pounds or more
• Must be able to stand for hours
• Ability to kneel, climb, bend, stoop and crawl

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.70 per hour
