Penick Village Continuing Care Life Plan Community is seeking a Lead Groundskeeper to join our team. The Lead Groundskeeper will create a positive first impression and maintain healthy and esthetically appealing grounds and landscaping for enjoyment of residents, employees and visitors to the Community. This position reports to the Facility Services Director and coordinates work teams to ensure day-to-day grounds maintenance is completed. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The ideal candidate will have ability to lead the Grounds team through continual upkeep of grounds, paths, walkways, lighting, parking lots and other exterior areas.
• Must have good working knowledge in caring for turf and ornamental grounds including ability to detect disease and apply appropriate treatment.
• Must know how to operate grounds equipment, including lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and hand tool equipment.
• Must be able to perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment and perform basic repairs to equipment.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduation from grammar school and at least three (3) years' experience in grounds upkeep.
• North Carolina certified and license pesticide applicator strongly preferred.
• Must be able to read and write the English language.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL:

• Works outdoors in weather conditions; heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Must be able to work indoors with exposure to fluctuating temperatures.
• Requires navigating self to shifting positions to Install, Remove and Operate work equipment including lawn mowers, fertilizers, other machinery and tools
• Must be able to Ascend/Descend, Work atop, Ladders and Roofs
• Must be able to remain stationery for extended periods.

SAFETY:

• General safety.
• Must be experienced and knowledgeable in how to operate equipment safely and proficiently.
• Must use Personal Protective Equipment at all times when using any type of equipment.
• Reports unsafe working conditions; such as, wet floors, exposed wires, blocked doorways, obstructions to fire extinguishers, etc

WORK SHIFT:

• Day Shift, Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (Hours may change)

• Subject to call back for emergency and inclement weather conditions
