NDDOT Starting Salary: $6,682 / month

This position is eligible for telecommuting, with a work location in the Bismarck/Mandan area.

Summary of Work

The Leadership and Learning Coordinator in our Human Resource Division will provide support for Divisions and Districts in building our future workforce. This position will help funnel the right learning opportunities to the right individuals. Duties will include:

Manage the Department’s Leadership Program (Leadership Development Journey – LDJ)

  • Enhance the current in-house leadership program, coach participants and supervisors on individual development plans, and connect participants with resources to assist with achieving their goals.
  • Propose, oversee, and use application of learning opportunities such as Emerging Leader (stretch assignment) projects, prepare periodic updates and progress reports.
  • Research and develop training curriculums that support organizational goals and objectives, conduct ongoing need analysis, and adapt training to meet emerging needs.
  • Research training methodologies which create a culture of learning and allow for flexibility to meet workplace demands and participate in statewide leadership and learning discussions.
  • Oversight and updating of course menu, participant guides, supervisor guides, and all potential learning opportunities to ensure program and participant success.

Knowledge Management and Manager Development

  • Build personal, employee, manager, and agency awareness of other Department, Statewide, and National training initiatives and opportunities available.
  • Coordinate with IT and Communications Divisions to enhance training information on MyDot (intranet page).
  • Serve as point of contact for agency training liaisons. Assist management regarding training issues and coordinate training with outside vendors or consultants.
  • Coach leadership on ways to incorporate learning in daily activities and encourage collaboration across work units.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and practical exercises for employees to engage, demonstrate, and apply what has been learned.
  • Interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the development of training courses.
  • Research knowledge management (KM) strategies for sharing, capturing, transferring, utilizing, retaining, and creating knowledge.
  • Assist with determining how to implement KM in order to mitigate the loss of knowledge due to turnover and the changing workforce; to make knowledge and information findable; to improve performance; and to support innovation.
  • Partner with other HR functional areas to develop and implement new supervisor training, coaching, or resources to meet emerging needs.

Minimum Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple requests at one time. Experience with eLearning software, Learning Management Systems (i.e. Enterprise Learning Management Systems), excellent communication and facilitation skills, and experience with strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills are preferred.

To be considered for this position, you must have a bachelor’s degree and three years of professional work experience leading learning and development initiatives and strategies.
