Location: Shokan, NY 12481.

Season: 6/26/23-9/1/23. Mandatory training dates TBD June 2023. The leadership team will meet and have additional planning hours prior to the determined all-staff training dates.

Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, no camp July 4.

Seewackamano Leadership positions are as follows:

Assistant Camp Director

Health Director/Office Manager: Qualifications and certifications include: Physician or Nurse Practitioner or RN or LPN or EMT, First Aid, CPR, RTE

Village Directors (3)

Arts & Crafts Director

High & Low Ropes Director

Program Director

Waterfront Director: Qualifications include: must be 21 years old, PSI or WSI, Lifeguard Management, Lifeguarding with Waterfront, CPR, and First Aid

Red Cross courses are available to be completed at YMCA before the season begins.

Specific Duties will be discussed with candidates as applications are received and reviewed.

Hourly rates range between $16 and $21, dependent on position.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Assists the Camp Director and Youth Development Director in the overall leadership of camp operations.
  • Sets the tone and provides guidance to assigned staff team.
  • Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
  • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Attends staff meetings and training.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  • Maintains open communication with camper guardians.
  • Maintains positive relations with families and other staff. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
  • Works with Camp Director and Youth Development Director to implement appropriate staff and camper management plans. Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
